The November 7 episode of SmackDown started with tension already in the air, setting the stage for the chaos Drew McIntyre would cause later in the night. The seeds of that chaos were planted right from the opening segment. Cody Rhodes kicked off the show with his trademark entrance, greeting fans as he made his way to the ring.

After asking the crowd what they wanted to talk about, he quickly brought up Saturday Night’s Main Event, reminding everyone that it was McIntyre who introduced the championship belt into their match. The crowd broke into a loud serenade of his name, forcing him to pause.

When the chants settled, ‘The American Nightmare’ took aim at McIntyre’s mindset. He said that McIntyre expects the audience to understand everything about what fuels him, yet doesn’t seem to understand himself. According to Rhodes, McIntyre’s hesitation in big moments has cost him repeatedly.

The WWE Champion contrasted that with his own confidence, praising his strength and presence but also calling him one of the most self-sabotaging men in the business. With that, he made it clear he was moving on. Rhodes then announced he wanted to shake things up

Instead of deciding his next challenger alone, he planned to sit in the crowd and watch SmackDown with the fans, letting everyone decide together who should get the next title shot. The lights dimmed as he stepped out of the ring. The quiet didn’t last long. Aleister Black emerged with Zelina Vega by his side

Black said that ever since he set Damian Priest on fire, he had been searching for something new, carrying a chip on his shoulder as big as the world title itself. As Rhodes loosened his tie and turned around, Vega stepped in front of him, warned him that his nightmare was beginning, and slapped him across the face.

Before things could escalate, SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis appeared. With tempers flaring, Aldis made the call: if Black wanted a fight, he would get one. Rhodes vs. Black was made official for the night’s main event.

The main event opened with Cody Rhodes and Aleister Black trading mat grappling and arm drags, each looking for the first advantage. Black struck with knees in the corner, but the WWE Champion answered with a delayed vertical suplex into a Gourdbuster.

When Rhodes tried to counter a reversal with a slap, Black caught his arm and snapped into a cross armbar, forcing ‘The American Nightmare’ to scramble free. A Beautiful Disaster attempt was cut off by a sharp Black kick before the commercial break.

Returning to action, Rhodes hit a snap powerslam and a quick schoolboy for two. Black fired back with a clean kick and corner strikes until Rhodes stunned him with an elbow and another powerslam. The Beautiful Disaster finally connected, but Black survived.

He tripped Rhodes and landed a penalty kick for a near fall, then countered the suplex with a big offense of his own. The champ then answered with a near-miss Cody Cutter as the pace kept climbing. The two went kick for kick until both collapsed, leaving the referee to start a standing ten-count.

Before either man could recover, Drew McIntyre stormed in and blasted the referee with a Claymore. Rhodes tackled the Scotsman, and the two brawled until Black jumped in and joined the attack with boots to Rhodes. McIntyre piled on, and moments later, Damian Priest hit the ring to make the save, dropping Drew with a big reverse STO and hitting a pop-up move on Black.

Priest sent Black spilling to the floor, but McIntyre cut him off. Priest chased Black outside, only for Zelina Vega to attack him. Priest shook her off, but Black gouged at his already injured eye. Rhodes re-entered the fray and nailed McIntyre with a Cody Cutter.

That was enough for Nick Aldis. He marched out and announced that, effective immediately, McIntyre was suspended. The match was ruled a no-contest. On the stage, the Scot and Aldis exchanged heated words. McIntyre then stared Aldis down, broke into a laugh, and walked away backstage, leaving the show in pure turmoil.
