Drew McIntyre once again lost the plot at the end of Money in the Bank, courtesy of CM Punk. After winning the Men’s Money in the Bank ladder match earlier on the show, The Scottish Warrior had his eyes on the match between Damian Priest and Seth Rollins for the world title. However, Punk ruined his plans by attacking him with a steel chair and costing him his MITB briefcase.

Enraged by this, McIntyre caused a commotion after the show and even hit Raw GM Adam Pearce. After Pearce suspended him indefinitely, the 39-year-old star gave a fitting reply on social media. He took to X and mocked the GM of the red brand, lambasting him for not doing his job. McIntyre further stated that if he had prevented CM Punk from ruining his night, none of this would have happened.

Speaking about the incident, thankfully, SmackDown commentator and former WWE star Wade Barrett was there to intervene and calm him down. Drew McIntyre threatened to confront The Second City Saint once again for what he did at Money in the Bank. Meanwhile, Punk also received a hefty fine from Pearce for his actions.

When The Scottish Warrior cashed in his MITB briefcase, Punk attacked him with a chair and struck him with the title belt. Unfortunately for McIntyre, that was all Damian Priest needed to finish the match, hitting him with the South of Heaven. Now that he is suspended from Raw, it will be interesting to see what his next move will be to exact revenge on his archrival.

Drew McIntyre became the sixth wrestler to have a failed cash-in

At Money in the Bank, McIntyre etched his name into an unwanted record. The Scottish Warrior became just the sixth wrestler to have a failed cash-in. Five wrestlers before him failed to capitalize on the perfect opportunity after winning the briefcase. The very first failed cash-in took place in 2012.

After John Cena won the MITB briefcase 12 years ago, he decided to cash in on then-champion Punk on Raw 1000. Although he won the match after Big Show‘s interference, The Best in the World retained the title due to disqualification. The second failed cash-in didn’t take long to happen, as Damien Sandow failed to capitalize on a vulnerable Cena, losing clean against the latter.

Baron Corbin in 2017, Austin Theory in 2022, and Braun Strowman in 2018 all lost their chance due to interference. Many fans criticized the failed cash-in, stating that it was a waste of the briefcase. Only time will tell how it all plays out in the future.
