Drew McIntyre has been in a league of his own of late. This past Friday on SmackDown, the Scotsman made it extremely personal with Cody Rhodes when he ransacked an old picture of the Undisputed WWE Champion posing with his late father, Dusty Rhodes, from The American Nightmare’s tour bus and torched it in front of a helpless WWE Champ.

‘The Scottish Psychopath’ has now taken to X to post himself from the show, where he could be seen holding that alight picture of Cody and Dusty just before dropping it into the trash can. McIntyre wrote in the caption that he wouldn’t piss on ‘The Prodigal Son’ if he were on fire, but he’d certainly do that to his tour bus, which Rhodes fondly labels as his home away from home.

‘The Chosen One’ had previously posted a couple of photos on social media depicting that he urinated on Rhodes’ tour bus. In the last two weeks, McIntyre has gotten the upper hand on the ex-AEW EVP, which doesn’t bode well for the Scot. Next Friday in Berlin, they’ll duke it out in a Three Stages of Hell match for the Undisputed WWE title.

The Ayr-born wrestler revealed that he and Rhodes will begin with a straight-up wrestling match, followed by a Last Man Standing stipulation for the second fall.

And if, as McIntyre stated, by some miracle, Cody Rhodes manages to draw level with the Scotsman, an old-school steel cage match will break the deadlock. Given that McIntyre has been relentless with his antics since returning from a suspension, the fans are more ready than ever before to see him dethrone ‘The American Nightmare’.

However, basic wrestling logic says that a white-hot babyface that’s been made to go through certain adversities, as Rhodes has in recent weeks, will eventually get his lick back on the dastardly-acting villain in the story, which obviously is McIntyre.

Some fans believe that McIntyre could pin Rhodes and then go on to lose the next two falls to draw a blank yet again. If Drew McIntyre does indeed end up losing next week, he might not win the world title in WWE anytime soon.

Why Cody Rhodes might not lose the Undisputed WWE title to Drew McIntyre?

Another major hint that Cody Rhodes isn’t dropping the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre is the fact that WWE has seemingly decided to insert Randy Orton into the world title picture. ‘The Viper’ made his return to WWE television this past week on SmackDown and ran into Rhodes after dropping The Miz with a couple of RKOs out in the ring.

Orton made it abundantly clear that he’s coming after the Undisputed WWE title once “Codeman” settles his differences with McIntyre next Friday. A long-term feud between Orton and Rhodes has been long overdue at this point. But it’s apparently coming to fruition with ‘The Apex Predator’ outright declaring his intentions to chase gold.

The St. Louis native had spent the past year or so staring at the world title, specifically when it was on Rhodes’ shoulders in his first reign. WWE didn’t pull the trigger on an anticipated Orton heel turn, even at times when the fans could sense there were tensions between the two. Is it finally going to happen in 2026?

The backstage confrontation featuring the former Legacy stablemates was certainly a step in that direction. Apart from ‘The Legend Killer’, there are two more names who’ve thrown their names in the hat. They’re none other than Trick Williams and Sami Zayn. The former ‘Honorary Uce’ cut a passionate promo on SmackDown by reaffirming his desire to go after the world title this year.

Williams, who’s now been officially called up to the blue brand, looked down on Zayn and dismissed his chances of reaching the tippy-top. The former Trick Melo Gang member had previously confronted Cody Rhodes and alluded that his days with the WWE title are numbered.
