Drew McIntyre‘s obsession with CM Punk continues to grow each week. Despite the Second City Saint not appearing on WWE programming for a few weeks now, the Iyre-born continues to talk about him each time he has a microphone in his hand.
McIntyre recently faced Jey Uso in a dark match after the latest episode of SmackDown went off the air. As The Scottish Psychopath stood in the ring, the crowd began chanting his rival’s name. He grabbed a microphone to cut a promo before his match and address the chants.
Drew McIntyre said that if the crowd continued to chant that name, the kilt wouldn’t come off, and they would not be able to witness “Sexy Drew.” He then stroked his hair and leaned against the turnbuckle as the crowd laughed. Regardless, the crowd continued to chant Punk’s name.
The former WWE Champion claimed that the Voice of the Voiceless would never fight him and keep running away despite them being in the same building. He then said that if Punk was able to get medically cleared for a match, he would offer him a World Heavyweight Championship opportunity after beating Damian Priest at Clash at the Castle.
Needless to say, Punk will immediately accept the title shot. This would result in a huge match, with tickets selling out in a flash. However, McIntyre claimed that it would result in the Best in the World embarrassing himself, just as he embarrassed himself in the UFC.
Shawn Michaels speaks about his relationship with CM Punk and the latter’s NXT visits
Since his return to the WWE at Survivor Series, the former AEW star has made backstage appearances at NXT shows, including a segment with Shawn Michaels at NXT Deadline. Speaking with Adrian Hernandez, the two-time Hall of Famer discussed how his relationship with CM Punk has evolved.
The Heartbreak Kid claimed to have always liked and appreciated the former AEW World Champion. The 45-year-old could relate to Punk and understood the importance of being given a second chance, the same as Michaels.
The Second City Saint had been highly supportive of NXT. He brought something different to the table, and therefore, Shawn Michaels appreciated the diversity. Overall, he claimed that Punk had been a joy to work with.
