The March 25th, 2024, edition of Raw emanated from the Allstate Arena in Chicago and featured CM Punk being back home. During this show, he, alongside Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins, put on one of the best segments of that year. While their three-way promo was a little awkward at times, fans were highly amused throughout.
During an interview with Inside The Ropes, McIntyre was asked what was going through his mind when Punk took a shot at Vince McMahon during that segment and asked the Scottish wrestler who had given him the nickname ‘The Chosen One.’ Although the 39-year-old stayed quiet during the segment, he wanted to shoot back by saying that he was given this nickname by the same guy who fired Punk on his wedding day.
Drew McIntyre, however, said that he was a professional and, thus, chose not to say anything. He also said that this was the time when people started to notice him as a great mic worker. The former WWE Champion believes that anyone who has seen his work outside WWE will attest to how good he is when he is comfortable and there are no restrictions about what he can say. He believed that he could go toe-to-toe with anyone on the stick, including Punk.
What’s going through my mind is: ‘The same person that fired you on your wedding day.’ But I’m a professional.

Nearly a year after this segment, fate has brought these two arch-rivals back together for another showdown. Both McIntyre and Punk will be stepping inside the Elimination Chamber on Thursday alongside four other superstars. They both seem to be more fierce than ever in their goal of main eventing WrestleMania and becoming WWE Champion.
Drew McIntyre reveals his honest thoughts during famous segment with CM Punk and Seth Rollins
During the same interview with Inside the Ropes, Drew McIntyre said that one should notice CM Punk’s eyes during their segment that also featured Seth Rollins. One would notice the Second City Saint slowly realizing that this was not the same Scottish wrestler who he had known a couple of years ago. The Chicago native realized that the 39-year-old was ready that night, and they went back and forth, hitting each other with their best lines.

McIntyre said that their promos were not something that was pre-scripted on a piece of paper. He and CM Punk were two guys who genuinely didn’t like each other and had a lot of banter. This situation was further amplified when they were in a city as hot as Chicago.
ll be a professional. I’ll do it for the company as well as the de facto babyface, even though I’m really the real babyface of the situation. So I let him have it. For the company, not for him.

When they finally got to Punk’s line about Vince McMahon, McIntyre knew he had a choice. He could shoot back and see where the two of them would end up. Alternatively, he could bite his tongue and keep it to himself. He chose to do the latter not for the Straight Edge Superstar but for the company he worked for.
