Drew McIntyre had lines abridged by Triple H in the promo he cut on CM Punk, where he basically said he prayed for his injury.

The fans didn’t know they needed more out of Drew McIntyre and CM Punk until the former glorified that he prayed for Punk to get injured. That monologue Drew dispensed on Raw, dated January 29, is still iconic. However, that promo could’ve been more offensive, especially from McIntyre’s side. In a recent interview with Sam Roberts, the Scot delved into how he had to alleviate the rant.

The former WWE Champion was pulled aside by Triple H. The Chief Content Officer advised Drew to what extent he could go while disparaging Punk. And what the fans saw out of McIntyre’s confrontation with Punk was a toned-down version of what The Scottish Warrior had in mind. Nonetheless, it came across just as effective as Drew could’ve asked for.

In the months after that, the two men continued to rain down all the insults on each other. Even though McIntyre boasted of holding an edge over his arch-nemesis on social media, the Chicagoan screwed Drew over in the crunch moments. For instance, The Best in the World traveled all the way to Scotland so as to deny the 39-year-old a world title win in front of his countrymen.

I actually went a step further, and between Triple H and I, we got it where we felt like we wouldn't offend a lot of people. I had it a little further than that, and Triple H dialed me back slightly, and we landed there.

That wasn’t done, as Punk yet again got one up on the former 3 MB member at Money in the Bank. By then, McIntyre has had enough of The Best in the World. They finally got to settle their differences in the ring at SummerSlam.

On D-Day, Drew ousted Punk. Special guest referee Seth Rollins, too, affected the outcome to quite an extent. The Second City Saint eventually lost the battle of attrition, which he had in grabs until the end. However, he took his eye off the bullet when it mattered the most to hand McIntyre the win.

CM Punk and Drew McIntyre are destined for a Hell in a Cell match

This week on Raw, CM Punk sported a smile on his face. Not because he lost at SummerSlam, but because of the way he got back up despite the setback. He was soon interrupted by Seth Rollins, and they were about to throw down at each other until Drew McIntyre‘s quirky voice stopped them.

Punk didn’t pay heed to Drew, who was trash talking from within the WWE Universe. The self-proclaimed DM Hunk then resorted to the bracelet he detained from the 45-year-old himself. It has Punk’s dog and his wife’s name embedded on it.

As soon as he reminded The Straight Edge Superstar that he still owned it, Punk tried to chase him down. However, Drew escaped. They’re rumored for a Hell in a Cell match at next month’s Bad Blood PLE.
