Despite losing at Bad Blood, Drew McIntyre earned the respect of the WWE Universe for his valorous effort. McIntyre succumbed to CM Punk inside Hell in a Cell after a half-hour display of grotesque violence. Both stars bled, although it can be said that it was The Scottish Warrior who got the worst of it. Less than 24 hours removed from his fight, McIntyre finally broke his silence.
The Ayr-born wrestler shared photos from not only his bout but also the injuries he sustained. As reported yesterday, McIntyre received 16 staples to his head. Apparently, he took an unprotected metal toolbox shot to the head. Furthermore, Drew bled again when Punk drove a wrench multiple times into his head during the Anaconda Vice submission.
The two stars had promised to shed blood inside Hell in a Cell in the leadup to Bad Blood. Therefore, fans knew what they were expecting on Saturday. In addition to the mentioned ‘bloody’ spots, McIntyre also suffered a few gnarly-looking bumps. Most notably, the former WWE Champion landed back first on the edge of the steel steps after CM Punk moved out of a Claymore attempt.

It’s safe to say that Drew McIntyre will be taking a prolonged break from television following his loss. A few days prior to Bad Blood, the 39-year-old lost his dear family member. Moreover, McIntyre certainly deserves time off for putting in the best character work of his career for the past year. Therefore, fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for him once he returns to regular WWE programming.
What is next for Drew McIntyre once he returns from hiatus
Although Drew McIntyre will most likely take an extended break from WWE, it is unknown when he’ll return. Many fans are speculating that the Scottish wrestler will be back by January in time for the Raw on Netflix debut and Royal Rumble.
After suffering a humiliating loss at WrestleMania XL, McIntyre will definitely look to get back in the world title scene. Hence, The Scottish Warrior might participate in the 30-man Rumble bout next year. Other than that, Drew could straightaway target the World Heavyweight Champion.
If Gunther manages to keep hold of his belt, the Ayr-born wrestler would want to seek revenge for his 2023 losses against The Ring General. Additionally, there is a rich pool of talent on the red brand waiting for a challenge from McIntyre, with the likes of Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed wrecking havoc on a weekly basis.
