Drew McIntyre was arguably the most compelling character of 2024. He had brilliant in-ring psychology and promos, telling phenomenal stories in the process. However, the 39-year-old now seems to be quite upset after the Royal Rumble after an unnamed figure sacrificed the narrative aspect of the match.
According to PWInsider, McIntyre was furious following the Men’s Royal Rumble match. He started screaming and loudly cursing backstage, claiming that someone had sacrificed a number of stories planned for the match just so they could get their moves in. He also stormed out of the arena way before the match or event had ended. There is still no information as to who is being talked about in this report.
McIntyre entered the men’s Royal Rumble match at number 17. He spent nearly 27 minutes in the ring before being unceremoniously eliminated by Damian Priest. This elimination caught many fans off guard, considering that these two superstars have no ongoing stories with each other and are even on different brands.

It is worth noting that McIntyre similarly stormed out of the building at a previous WWE event, Survivor Series 2023 when CM Punk made his return to WWE. There was a lot of speculation at the time whether this was a work or a shoot. However, considering that these two entered a feud soon after, the Chosen One could have simply put on an act.
CM Punk claims Drew McIntyre should have stayed away from him
Drew McIntyre and CM Punk delivered what many consider the feud of the year in 2024. Their trilogy featured exceptional promos, storytelling, and in-ring battles, culminating in a brutal Hell in a Cell match where the Best in the World emerged victorious. In a recent WWE interview with Jackie Redmond, the Voice of the Voiceless reflected on this rivalry. He asserted that the Scottish Warrior should have never instigated him in the first place.

The Second City Saint’s thoughts on his rival seemingly haven’t changed much over the past few months. In fact, he had some pretty strong words to use about his nemesis. Furthermore, he said that if he were in McIntyre’s shoes, he would’ve stayed away from the Straight Edge Superstar at all costs. In the end, the 39-year-old gave Punk something to focus his rage on. This ended up being a huge mistake for him.
I think Drew is a piece of sh*t, and I don’t think that’s a secret. I think if I put myself in his shoes, if he means all the things he says, the best thing he could have probably done is just ignore me.

These two superstars recently had another interaction on an episode of Raw, which also featured Seth Rollins. They were also a part of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. Unfortunately, neither of them was able to punch their ticket to WrestleMania, and Jey Uso emerged victorious in the 30-man match.
