Drew McIntyre had one of the worst nights of his career at Money in the Bank. After starting off strong by winning the Money in the Bank briefcase, things went south for him later. The Scottish Warrior’s cash in ended in failure on the same night due to CM Punk. During the post-show press conference, McIntyre vented his frustration while ambushing two referees and Raw General Manager Adam Pearce.

As such, the WWE official announced on X that the former WWE Champion has been suspended indefinitely. In addition to that, both Punk and McIntyre have been fined for their actions at Money in the Bank. The latter has been in turmoil since losing in front of his home country at Clash at the Castle. However, he felt redeemed after attacking The Second City Saint at the Allstate Arena in Chicago.

McIntyre had laid out the plan to not only become Mr. Money in the Bank but also to walk out of Toronto as the new World Heavyweight Champion. Although he completed the first part, Punk set out to destroy him during the triple-threat bout involving Damian Priest and Seth Rollins. Speaking of the post-show incident, the 39-year-old wrestler threatened his rival and had to be separated by Wade Barrett.

Furthermore, it looks as if Adam Pearce will address the situation on the upcoming episode of Raw. While the ‘screwjob’ was predictable in many fans’ eyes, it has furthered the personal feud between the two stars. Needless to say, only time will tell what lies ahead in the next chapter of the rivalry.

WWE “confident” of CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre taking place at SummerSlam

With SummerSlam less than four weeks away, WWE will be looking to stack the show with a strong card. And there’s no bigger match possible for the PLE than CM Punk vs. Drew McIntyre. A rivalry that has provided some of the most compelling television in recent months should culminate at the second-biggest WWE event of the year.

However, it isn’t as straightforward as it seems. As noted by Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the match hasn’t yet been locked in. Due to uncertainty surrounding Punk’s injury, WWE will have to wait for doctors to medically clear him to compete.

Meltzer did note that there is confidence within WWE that The Second City Saint will be 100% by the time SummerSlam rolls around. With McIntyre suspended, it will be interesting to see whether Punk appears on the upcoming episode of Raw.
