Several reports have claimed over the past few weeks that Drew McIntyre appears to have beef with LA Knight. Thus, it was surprising to see these two not only appear during the same segment but also work a match on the latest episode of SmackDown. However, fans have now finally gotten some more clarity regarding the dynamics between these two.
According to Fightful, there was no tension between these two superstars following their altercation on SmackDown. McIntyre seemingly had no problem with Knight making references to the reports, as evidenced by his breaking character and laughing during the show. Another source stated that while the leak wasn’t ideal, WWE decided to flip it on its head and use it for heat between the two.
Shortly after the 2025 Royal Rumble, several reports claimed that McIntyre was screaming backstage and stormed out of the arena. He was reportedly mad at someone for trying to get their moves in, which LA Knight also alluded to in his promo. This allegedly upset the Chosen One because it led to some narrative and storytelling elements being sacrificed.
Not even a week after these reports came to light, both these superstars worked together on the latest episode of SmackDown. Knight went off on McIntyre for being a crybaby right before their Elimination Chamber qualifying match that also featured Jimmy Uso.
Vince Russo is not a fan of Drew McIntyre’s current booking
Many members of the WWE Universe would argue that Drew McIntyre is doing some of the best work of his career right now. His matches are incredible; he is a stellar performer on the mic, and his character work may be second to none. However, Vince Russo still believes that WWE is giving him nothing to work with.

Speaking during Sportskeeda’s Royal Rumble Review, Russo said that if McIntyre wasn’t a good in-ring performer, WWE would have released him long back. He believed that the promotion was doing nothing for him creatively, and the only thing that kept him relevant was his great performances in the squared circle.
I don’t know how Drew McIntyre has any juice at all. Thank God. If Drew McIntyre was not a great performer, he would have been future endeavored already. The only thing that keeps him relevant is his performance.
Vince Russo on Sportskeeda’s Royal Rumble Review
Of course, many fans disagreed with Russo’s sentiment. After all, the promotion has seen several great in-ring wrestlers over the past few years who did not do well during their time in the Stamford-based promotion. Perhaps they were not good storytellers, failed to get over with fans, or the company simply did not believe in them. It doesn’t look like any of these possibilities fit the case of McIntyre, and he will surely become an even bigger star in the years to come.
