Is Tyreek Hill the next big-name receiver to get an extension? The 30-year-old would certainly hope so. Hill has been waiting to talk with the Miami Dolphins front office since the end of February. If the Dolphins required an incentive to respect his wishes, after June 3, they have it now.
On that day the Minnesota Vikings made Justin Jefferson the highest-paid wide receiver/ non-quarterback. Jefferson signed a 4 year $140 million deal with $110 million guaranteed, essentially earning him $35 million a year.
Hill even congratulated the LSU graduate for his monumental salary, perhaps hinting at his intentions. Even before that Hill saw, that the Detroit Lions agreed to pay Amon Ra St. Brown $30 million and the Philadelphia Eagles agreed $33 million a year with AJ Brown.
Miami Dolphins reporter Josh Moser spoke with Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus who gave further insight into what should the Dolphins fans expect in the coming days.
I’ve been in touch with [General manager] Chris Grier and [senior V.P. of football & business administration] Brandon Shore of the Dolphins, you know, I certainly have a fluid line of communication with them… Without getting into any more specifics, the Dolphins now how we feel.Drew Rosenhaus said
Now that the Justin Jefferson deal is done, I spoke to Drew Rosenhaus about getting his client, Tyreek Hill, more money to put him back in line with the top-5 highest paid at his position. @DrewJRosenhaus saying, “ I have a fluid line of communication with Chris Grier and Brandon… pic.twitter.com/Gx53yj69Qv

Well, Hill has previously spoken about finishing his career in Miami. However, he also highlighted that in football anything is possible.
Tyreek Hill’s contract hasn’t aged well
Two years ago the All-Pro playmaker switched Kansas City for Miami hoping to add to his one Super Bowl ring. Hill had signed a four-year $120 million deal ($30 million a year). However, to get that much the Dolphins pumped up the compensation package to $45 million for his final year.

If that is out of the equation then the actual amount Hill has been playing for is 3 years $75 million ($25 million a year) per NBC Sports. Earlier this year, Hill sent a cryptic message to sign him, which can also be viewed as ‘pay me.’
However, the Dolphins also have the Tua Tagovailoa deal to wrap up either in the offseason or the first few weeks of the 2024 campaign. Tagovailoa could pocket around $50 million if negotiated smartly.

Hill’s time in Miami hasn’t gone according to plan. The consensus was, that the Chiefs would struggle without him but in reality, they won back-to-back Super Bowls while the Dolphins have yet to cross the wild card round.
