Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill will headline the coveted UFC 300 PPV, with everyone waiting to see who wins. The MMA community highly anticipates the main event due to the rise in popularity of ‘Poatan.’ Middleweight champion and two-division title aspirant Dricus Du Plessis recently gave his prediction for the fight.
Israel Adesanya, Dan Hooker, and Robert Whittaker, among others, have given their picks for the fight. Now, Dricus Du Plessis has done the same. Du Plessis recently appeared on the episode of the Shadow Banned podcast, where he provided his take on Hill vs Pereira. One could say he did not want anyone to walk out as the winner.
Both of them don't like me I've realized, so I'd love a double knockout. Pereira [doesn't like me] obviously because I'd smoke his a**... and I beat his boy [Sean] Strickland.Dricus Du Plessis Shadow Banned podcast
Even though Dricus feels both Hill and Pereira hate him, he is a big fan of the fight. Du Plessis did not provide a clear prediction but gave out paths to victory for both. The South African stated that Jamahal Hill would win a ‘dog fight’ whereas Alex Pereira would win a ‘technical fight.’ Moreover, DDP stated that he would not be surprised if Pereira knocked out Hill.
Pereira and Hill are not the only fighters who have animosity towards Dricus Du Plessis. The South African’s ‘Real African‘ comment came at odds with Adesanya, Kamaru Usman, and Francis Ngannou. Fans were also against him at the time, but the sentiment has since changed. If Dricus keeps defending his 185-pound title, one day, he could challenge either Pereira or Hill to become a two-division champ.
Dricus Du Plessis hails praise on potential rival Alex Pereira
Alex Pereira is a two-sport, two-division champion. Before he became the light heavyweight champion at UFC 295, Glory Kickboxing inducted him into their Hall of Fame. He has already made a UFC Hall of Fame-worthy resume with just seven fights in the UFC. Four of the six opponents he faced had held the UFC title once in their career.
In his recent appearance on the Shadow Banned podcast, Du Plessis spoke highly of Alex Pereira’s achievements. This comes from a man who believed Pereira hated him for professional and personal reasons.
He's [Pereira] probably one of the best combat athletes that the world's ever seen, just in terms of what he's achieved in kickboxing.Dricus Du Plessis Shadow Banned podcast
Even though DDP praised Pereira, he also stated that Pereira got favorable matchups from the promotion. As Du Plessis stated, Pereira never fought an accomplished wrestler in his UFC career. Jan Blachowicz was the best wrestler Pereira had to face to date.
Moreover, Du Plessis even stated that Jiri Prochazka, Pereira’s latest victim, was smaller than the Brazilian. Du Plessis even stated that ‘Poatan’ weighed more than Prochazka and that the Czech fighter should move down to middleweight.
