India clinch 21 medals at the Dubai Para Badminton International tournament

The Indian contingent at the 3rd Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum Dubai Para-Badminton International 2021 tournament won a whopping amount of 21 medals at the Shadab Ali Ahli Club. The tournament was fiercely contested with 127 players taking part from a total of 29 countries. But it as the Indian contingent who made their presence felt with a stupendous haul.
The tournament is a part of the BWF Para Badminton tournaments which have been taking place after a gap of over a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Out of the 21 medals that India won, 10 were bronze and 6 were silver. The other 5 were gold medals with para badminton ace Pramod Bhagat winning two of those (both Men’s Singles SL3 and Men’s Doubles SL3-SL4).
India end tournament with big haul
Pramod Bhagat was the star for India on the day as he clinched three medals for India. He was on line to win three golds when the day started. He clinched gold in the singles category and in the men’s doubles along with Manoj Sarkar. However, in the mixed doubles along with Palak Kohli, Bhagat had to settle for a bronze as the duo came up short in the semi-final.
The other gold medal winners for India were Krishna Nagar in the men’s singles SH6, Prem Kumar Ale in WH1 singles, Krishna Nagar and Raja Magotra in Men’s Doubles SH6. The silver winners in singles were Palak Kohli, Manasi Joshi, Nithesh Kumar and Sukant Kadam. The doubles pairs of Nitesh Kumar and Sukant Kadam as well as Premkumar Ale and Abu Hubaida also bagged silver to cap off a terrific day for India.
