Now, it is time for the draft of participants to get on with the Games. It’s never easy picking between so many fierce and fan-favorite athletes. Yet Casimir Schmidt is going immensely viral!

The Men’s Artistic Gymnastics – Qualification was along from 7:00 – 18:30 LT (EDT +2). Casimir Schmidt took part in the double vault qualifiers from 17:30 EDT and came up high. However, it was the matter of his hand tattoos that caught the attention of the web. His left arm is a sleeve of extensive tattoos. His right one, though, has small tidbits like ‘Toad’ from Super Mario Bros and ‘Mew’ from Satoshi Tajiri’s Pokémon!

The 2024 Paris Olympics opener began at 1:30 p.m. EDT (reairs on NBC.com, and the NBC app). It tried to present itself as a modern, inclusive hub at the Olympic opening ceremony. However, a drag rendition of ‘The Last Supper’ came under heavy fire. With the exhaustive amount of backlash the matter has faced, a more iconic ‘Mew’ and ‘Toad’ tattoo took netizens by storm.

Sometimes, the Games see raw, unequivocal emotions from a win. Ask France’s Bolade Apithy, who won against András Szatmári in their men’s saber individual round-of-32 bout at the Grand Palais. Sometimes, there’s a thrill in the atmosphere for those participating in their first games.

There’s also excitement about the industry standouts returning. There are just so many emotions involved. However, nobody had rooting for a guy based on nostalgia and tattoos on their bucket list! The matter has gone immensely viral.

Netizens react to Casimir Schmidt’s pop culture tattoos

Artistic gymnastics at the 2024 Paris Olympics has a special place, with the sixer All-Around world champ Simone Biles leading the U.S. team. While she carries the burden as an icon, she’s also super iconic to even other stars. Every sport has its ace story that is just super-known and the talk of the town. And then there’s the unknown and underdog story that just gallops in out of nowhere.

The elite gymnast qualified 17th for the Men’s Artistic Gymnastics AA double vault qualifiers. The effort was just 0.500 shy of a team final; his performance, though, is gaining traction so far.

Moreover, his tattoos have gone viral during the qualifier. ESPN SportsCenter (@@SportsCenter / X) broadcasted his tattoos during live updates; here are a few reactions to it:

A rising story or not, his pop culture selection has been the G.O.T.D. for fans. Consequently, they have also quipped and liked how one arm feels extensively detailed while the other just has two iconic pop characters. All in all, the matter just propelled him to even more fame. If anything, here’s hoping the Games provide more such viral moments.
