West Indian cricketer Dwayne Bravo has decided to leave the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) side Trinbago Knight Riders who are the defending champions for St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. The all-rounder has been a key part of the Trinbago franchise ever since 2013. He has led them to three titles in 2015, 2017 and 2018. He then served as vice-captain under Kieron Pollard in the previous season.

The 2020 season was a fairytale for Trinbago as they went undefeated throughout the season. It was a flawless performance from the franchise and Bravo was a key part of it. Now that Bravo has been traded to the Patriots, Sunil Narine has been elevated to the post of vice-captain. Meanwhile, Patriots have traded wicket-keeper batsman Denesh Ramdin as a part of the same transaction.

Dwayne Bravo released a statement today about his trade deal and said, “At this stage of my career I needed a new challenge, which is to work with the young talent for the benefit of Cricket West Indies. Also becoming part of a new franchise SNKP will provide me with a new challenge in CPL. I want to thank TKR for respecting my wishes and for all their support over the years. I also appreciate everything they’ve done for Trinidad and Tobago in general.”

“DJ Bravo has been instrumental in not only building TKR into a champion team but also captained the team which earned three championships in 2015, 2017 and 2018,” said team director Venky Mysore. “We are sad to see him leave but we respect his wishes,” he added.
