Gordon Hayward signed a 4-year deal with Michael Jordan’s Charlotte Hornets worth $100 Million in this pre-season. Leaving the Boston Celtics as a free agent, in hopes of taking up a better and bigger role. Hayward has surely delivered being the marquee player for the Hornets. He has paired up well with rookie LaMelo Ball to add excitement into the Hornet’s camp.

Miami Heat’s legend Dwayne Wade appreciated Hayward for silencing all his critics who questioned his ability before the start of the season. His response came off the back of Hayward putting up 39 points and 9 rebounds against the Orlando Magic. Hayward even made 5 three-pointers during the game, as he led the Hornets to an impressive victory. It seems like the ex-Celtics forward has been leading the young Hornets quite well.

Hayward has averaged 24 points per season so far, the highest of his career. Additionally, Hayward is currently on track to average an impressive 50-40-90 season, averaging those percentages from the field, three-point line, and the free-throw line.

Many speculated that Hayward is not the amount invested in him by the Hornets. The latter played the role of the 4th scorer for Boston Celtics. Hayward had joined the Celtics after having an All-Star season with the Utah Jazz but hadn’t replicated that form during his time with the white and green. Not being able to get the mainframe often, Hayward’s injury struggles always held him back from making the headlines.

The kind of form Hornets is in, it could surely go onto break their playoff jinx. But will Gordon Hayward be able to lead his side in the same fashion throughout the 2020-21 season? That remains to be the important question as of now. Given that the Eastern Conference is tougher than ever. But surely if Hayward and Ball continue to play the way they have, they certainly stand a chance.
