Dwight Howard reveals Michael Jordan’s words of wisdom during Charlotte Hornets stint
Dwight Howard reveals what Michael Jordan told him during his stint with the Charlotte Hornets, where he delivered impressive numbers.
Michael Jordan wanted Dwight Howard to be his best version
One might forget the three-time NBA Defensive Player Dwight Howard had a brief stint with the Charlotte Hornets in 2017-18. At this time, NBA legend and GOAT Michael Jordan owned the team and brought Howard to the team. It turns out Jordan also gave Howard valuable advice regarding how to play. As such, the team got a better output from the 18-year NBA veteran.
Although Dwight Howard was no longer the dominant force from his Orlando Magic days, he still delivered impressive numbers. He averaged 16.6 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. Recently, Dwight Howard shared a post revealing his conversation with Michael Jordan, the Hornets’ chairman, who played an important role in his consistent performance.

The Hornets failed to make the playoffs despite Howard’s efforts, finishing tenth in the Eastern Conference with a 36-46 record. Nevertheless, the 18-year NBA veteran played 81 games and shot over 50 percent. After his one-season stint, the team traded him to the Brooklyn Nets. Later, he found success as a role player with the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers.
Howard’s career experienced a resurgence, culminating in an NBA Championship with the Lakers in 2020. However, it was not enough for other teams to have Howard as a valuable role player moving forward. His time in Charlotte marked the last time he was seen as a star, but he continues contributing as a valuable role player for the Taiwan Mustangs.
Dwight Howard cleared of civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault and battery
It appears to be Dwight Howard’s lucky period, as he is no longer facing a civil lawsuit alleging sexual assault and battery after the plaintiff, Stephen Harper, dismissed the case. The lawsuit was filed in July 2023, accusing Howard of sexual assault from a July 2021 encounter at Howard’s residence.
Howard had denied the allegations, stating that the encounter was consensual. As such, he asked the court to dismiss the lawsuit without a trial. His lawyers argued that the allegations were baseless and that Harper sought revenge for unrequited love.
The allegations against Mr. Howard are contested. Mr. Howard intends to present the truth. The truth is Mr. Howard blocked Mr. Harper on social media and then was confronted with two options -- pay to protect his reputation or have a fabricated story made public… Mr. Howard chose to trust in the justice system and will rely on all future court filings to speak for themselves.Dwight Howard’s attorney said in a statement
Furthermore, Howard’s attorney confirmed that no money was paid to Harper in exchange for dropping the lawsuit. The former NBA player has maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal and can now move forward without the burden of the lawsuit.
