Former Los Angeles Lakers superstar Dwight Howard gets engaged to rapper Amy Luciani

The past few years have been hard for NBA champion Dwight Howard. He has seen divorce, allegations about his s**ual preferences and people cheating him. It also saw the big man leave the NBA and play overseas as options dried up.

The three-time Defensive Player of the Year was first embroiled in a controversy when Masin Elije accused him of s*xually assaulting him. Even though Howard vehemently denied it, Elije continued to proclaim that the superstar was bis*xual.

Dwight Howard‘s denial took a turn for the worse when a man named Stephen Harper filed charges against him. This time, the allegations were that Howard had forcefully engaged in s*xual activities with him without consent. The now 39-year-old denied the allegations of his encounter with Harper being non-consensual.

However, he did not talk about rumors of him being gay. In fact, his ex-wife Te’a Cooper left him after learning of his countless encounters with many people. The allegations though took a different turn when rapper Amy Luciani was snapped on video with a ring on her finger as she danced with Howard at a nightclub.

The rapper posted a story on her Instagram page, but did not explicitly reveal that they were engaged. However, the two have showed off their diamond encrusted engagement rings to friends who posted those videos of them.

It is unclear how long they have been in a relationship as the two seemed to have done a good job of keeping their privacy intact. Now that it is out into the open, it seems the former Los Angeles Lakers big man has seemingly shut down the ‘gay’ rumors that engulfed his life.

Dwight Howard has epic reaction to HOF nominee list

The engagement was no doubt one of the highlights of his life as it came to the forefront. However, he was in for another surprise when the Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2025 was announced on ESPN. His first response to the clip was.

Wow I’m surprised.

He then added another post to his X account where he wrote.

I’m not retired yet but I’ll take it (laughing emoticon). I’m extremely grateful I just pray they don’t do me like they did the last list.

The superstar has tried his best to get the Los Angeles Lakers to re-sign him in this season and in the past. But as of yet that has not materialized as he continues to try to find a way back into the NBA. That is why it was surprising that the Hall of Fame class had him as part of their nominees.

Typically, Hall of Fame nominations are reserve for retired players. Howard insists he hasn’t officially retired but does not mind the honor of being a first-time nominee. The committee will announce the finalists during the 2025 All-Star weekend and enshrine them in September.
