Dwyane Wade recalls hilarious Oj Simpson story

Anyone who ever dealt with OJ ‘The Juice’ Simpson has a story to tell about him. The Juice was always in the middle of some affair or the other, for better or for worse. But Dwyane Wade’s latest story about Simpson might (almost) take the cake.

Dwyane Wade recently joined former teammates Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller on their ‘The OG’s’ podcast. Wade and Haslem revealed a number of stories, but perhaps the most striking was their interaction with Simpson. They recalled an incident where they ran into Simpson’s girlfriend, who tried her shot at the Miami Heat superstar.

OJ’s girl tried to hit on this man. This is around the time like he got off, but we already know he did the sh*t now. We assumed. When she walked, I said, ‘Listen, man. That’s The Juice’s lady. (Wade) said, ‘The Juice?’ I say, ‘Yeah, man. OJ. The killer. I ain’t going to tell you what to do or what not to do. I’m saying just understand that we gonna have to ride on The Juice ’cause he clearly thinks he can do what he wants to do about his women.

Udonis Haslem recalled

Haslem recounted the hilarious story which took place at The Mutiny Hotel in Miami. Wade and Haslem ran into a lady, with the Heat’s superstar guard talking flirtatiously with her. Haslem soon learned that the woman in question was supposedly Simpson’s girlfriend at the time.

As Wade continued to talk to the woman in the story, Haslem asked his friend to back off. Simpson had recently been released from prison after the infamous killing (he was acquitted of the charges) of his ex-wife and her friend Ron Goldman.

Haslem mocked The Juice but made sure he warned Wade to be wary of going after Simpson’s girlfriend. Wade ultimately backed off, knowing the possible repercussions of messing with Simpson.

Dwyane Wade reveals the team he almost left the Heat for

In 2010, Dwyane Wade’s heart was almost set on leaving Miami for his hometown, Chicago. He had given everything to the Heat and was hungry for another championship.

Reflecting on that moment in a recent podcast with Udonis Haslem and Mike Miller, Wade shared just how close he was to returning to Chicago.

I was actually leaving Miami at that time because I didn’t think that anybody out there that we could get was going to help us get to that level. I wanted to be a part of a team that could win, and for me, my hometown team could win. So, I was like, ‘Man, I’m going back home. I’m going to Chicago. But I got that call, man. I got that call from No. 6.

In the end, Wade, LeBron, and Chris Bosh joined forces in Miami. They created a dynasty that redefined the league. They went on to win two championships, cementing their legacy as one of the most iconic trios in NBA history.

Wade recently inaugurated his statue in Miami. His near-departure to Chicago wasn’t just a decision — it was a pivotal moment, one that shaped not only his career but the future of the NBA.
