Dwyane Wade was ‘closest thing to Bruce Lee’ if anyone trash talked him says former teammate
Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade taught former NBA player Gilbert Arenas a lesson back in 2004 after Arenas trash-talked him.
Udonis Haslem claims Dwyane Wade was the closest thing to 'Bruce Lee' if trash-talked
Former NBA star Dwyane Wade was one of the best players of his generation, playing for the Miami Heat during his prime. Interestingly, Wade had a bittersweet experience at the 2004 Olympics, where he helped his nation win the bronze medal. Recently, another former NBA player, Gilbert Arenas, opened up on the OGs podcast, explaining why it was a bad idea to “trash talk” Wade.
Back in 2004, Gilbert Arenas trash-talked Dwyane Wade after Wade’s underwhelming performance at the Olympics. Known as one of the NBA’s most notorious trash talkers, Arenas believed that Wade and the Miami Heat were not a threat in the Eastern Conference following the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens.
However, Arenas quickly realized his mistake, as Wade went on to humble him in every matchup thereafter.
Beginning of the season started, we're coming into the 04-05 season. Everybody's talking about the Heat, Shaq went over there. I was like, 'Oh yeah, we'll just treat D-Wade like they did at the Olympics, just play a zone,' You know how you looking at the scoreboards, he got 3 games like 40, 45, did he circle the date? Because the way he coming towards us.Gilbert Arenas said
Not only that. Wade’s former teammate Udonis Haslem added to the story saying,
D Wade is closest thing I’ve seen to Bruce Lee.Udonis Haslem on the OGs Show
Gilbert Arenas had joined the league just two years before Wade but had already made a name for himself with the Golden State Warriors and the Washington Wizards. Winning the 2003 Most Improved Player award likely boosted his confidence enough to take a jab at the No. 5 pick. However, Arenas quickly learned his lesson and even called the hotel where Wade was staying to apologize.
Quinn Cook once made a bold claim regarding Dwyane Wade and Stephen Curry
Earlier last week, Quinn Cook, a former NBA and Golden State Warriors player, made a daring statement about two top-tier basketball talents from each of their generations, Dwyane Wade and Stephen Curry. Cook asserted on Dwight Howard‘s Above the Rim Podcast that Curry is better than Wade in the all-time point-guard rankings.
When asked about the all-time point guard selection, Quinn Cook said:
I got Steph [Curry]...D-Wade don’t want no parts of Steph, I’m talking about the number one point guard (indicating Stephen Curry) of all time.Quinn Cook said
Cook has a deep appreciation for Curry’s abilities, perhaps more than any other player at his position. As a former two-way player for the Warriors, Cook had the opportunity to play alongside Curry, and together they won an NBA championship, largely due to Curry’s exceptional performance that season.
