- Dwyane Wade praised Bam Adebayo's 83-point game but emphasized the need for higher standards within the Miami Heat organization.
- Wade expressed disappointment over the team's lack of energy and competitive spirit compared to past eras.
- He highlighted the absence of excitement around the franchise, stating that the Heat need to regain their winning culture to attract attention.
After Bam Adebayo stunned the basketball world with his 83-point performance, one of the things he talked about was how Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade was wrong about the team lacking energy.
The three-time champion stressed that the center, along with Tyler Herro, was not doing what was necessary to galvanize the team to do things they had a reputation for doing.
Before Jimmy Butler left via trade to the Golden State Warriors, the franchise was known for utilizing its famed ‘Heat Culture’ to power them to two NBA Finals appearances, along with a Conference Finals loss.
When Butler was injured in the 2023-24 season and when he was not with the team last campaign, the Heat ended up getting booted out of the first round, with their last postseason run an embarrassing sweep.
This season, they are fighting for a playoff spot. But even then, Dwyane Wade felt that had the energy been there, the team would have done much better than just being in sixth place.
Then came the game against the Washington Wizards, and Bam Adebayo went off for what would become the second-highest individual score by a player in NBA history. That performance left even the critical Hall of Famer impressed.
I was like, ‘Who is this dude?’ I’ve never seen Bam on attack like this… I watched the evolution of Bam’s progression, and it’s been beautiful to watch.

Even though this 83-point performance drew a lot of backlash, particularly from Los Angeles Lakers and Kobe Bryant fans, there is no doubt that it brought the spotlight on Bam Adebayo and the Miami Heat.

It’s standards. If the Miami don’t want me to have standards on the players, that’s on them…I will always have a standard for the organization…because I gave so much to the organization.

That is missing now, and all he wanted was for the players to respond and understand where he is coming from. The 2006 Finals MVP was irate while talking about this and let Bam Adebayo know that he expects more.

Now that the buzz is missing, and instead of fans keeping tabs about the Miami Heat, they have become an afterthought. Unless their winning culture returns, that buzz will not return.
