Jimmy Butler and Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade
Jimmy Butler wanting to leave the Miami Heat has brought the franchise into a bad light. The way Pat Riley is trying to get the situation sorted has seen many condemn the NBA legend who once sent franchise legend Dwyane Wade out.
Butler’s stand-off with the Heat started when he wanted an extension, but Pat Riley was not willing to do so. He did not want to give an aging and injury riddled star a deal that would be detrimental to their future. However, he is yet to find a trade partner for his beleaguered star but is working on a solution.
Once this situation came to light, many were quick to slam the 79-year-old team President. Fans and some sections of the media felt Riley had lost his touch in building a championship caliber team. That is one of the reasons Butler wants to leave.
Moreover, many felt the way he handled Jimmy Butler’s situation suggested it would hamper their attempts at getting hold of star players. Dwyane Wade was speaking on his podcast, The why with Dwyane Wade, where he addressed that notion.

The three-time NBA Champion added that he does not like the fact that people outside the Miami Heat are speaking ill about his team. But he is confident that considering the culture that the franchise has developed, superstars worth $300 million contracts will line up to play for them.
Dwyane Wade gives Jimmy Butler his props
The franchise legend mentioned that the relationship has changed between Butler and the Miami Heat. However, he acknowledged the contributions of the 35-year-old in his six years with the franchise as he said this.
He added that Jimmy Butler did a commendable job on both fronts. On one hand he became the franchise superstar. On the other hand, he led them to two NBA Finals and took them to seven games in a Conference Finals.
That led him to be the undisputed superstar of the city. However, Dwyane Wade believes players do not run franchises. Since Pat Riley runs it, the Miami Heat work on his methods. Therefore, he understands that the split is bound to happen.
