Dwyane Wade demands Bronny James to return to Lakers to see iconic LeBron James moment
Dwyane Wade took to his podcast and called for Bronny James and LeBron James to recreate the iconic Wade to LeBron jam.
Dwyane Wade calls for Bronny James and LeBron James to recreate iconic lob
The Los Angeles Lakers have experienced a rollercoaster season, plagued by inconsistency. Despite winning recent games against the Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings, the Lakers sit at 15-12, still searching for a stable rhythm. As they struggle to keep their championship aspirations with LeBron James alive, Dwyane Wade expressed his desire to see Bronny James return to the Lakers.
On his podcast posted on his YouTube channel, Dwyane Wade spoke about the Laker’s current status. He bluntly called out the Lakers’ roster deficiencies, asserting that they may not be a championship team given the way they’re built. Given these constraints, Wade suggested that bringing Bronny James back from the G-League for his father-son pairing with LeBron James is the way to go.
Of course, throwing a lob might just be the pinnacle of basketball for Dwyane Wade and he wants the Lakers stars to create their own iconic moment. He called for Bronny James to potentially set up his father for a high-flying dunk, much like Wade’s own iconic fastbreak pass to LeBron James for the jam during their time together on the Miami Heat.
As for the Lakers woes, with six players averaging double-digit points, their offense has shown depth, but the inconsistent play across the board remains an issue. Although Anthony Davis has been in MVP conversations, the declining play of James on a night-to-night basis has been an issue making many wonder if the right step for the team would be to cash in on the LeBron and Bronny James hype.
Bronny James continues to shine in the G-League
While the Lakers are figuring out their issues in the Western Conference, Bronny James has quietly been performing at a high level for the South Bay Lakers in the G-League. He showcased flashes of his potential while navigating some growing pains early in his playing days. After being assigned to the South Bay Lakers, the LA Lakers’ G-League affiliate, the 20-year-old guard has been steadily improving.
In five appearances this season, Bronny James has averaged 14.4 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.4 assists over 26.1 minutes per game. His defensive contributions, including 1.0 steals and 0.8 blocks per game, have been noticeable improvements to his all-around game. However, his shooting percentages, 37.7% from the field and 20% from beyond the arc, definitely do signal some areas for growth.
The young guard’s performances have ranged from stellar to inconsistent. On December 12, Bronny scored a career-high 30 points in just 25 minutes, shooting 56.5% from the field. He managed 16 points the following day but struggled with efficiency, shooting just 30% overall. These are common struggles for a young guard, and LeBron James and the Lakers are ready to endure his growing pains.
Bronny is currently participating in the G-League Winter Showcase, an event that attracts scouts and executives from all 30 NBA teams. The showcase presents an opportunity for him to further solidify his case for a call-up to the Lakers’ main roster.
