The GOAT debates in recent days in the NBA are continuing to gain steam with each passing day. Someone or the other is talking or giving their expertise on this ever-endless debate. Notably, former NBA player Dwayne Wade also made his views clear on this matter several times over the last few weeks. He added to this case differently, stating the seven greatest players he has watched with his eyes in the NBA.

Wade is one of the best shooting guards of all time; therefore, his viewpoint is significant. He has put his blood and sweat on the court for years in the NBA, and knows what it takes to achieve greatness in comparison to the legends that have played the sport. His list was iconic, as one would expect from someone like Wade. He stated at the start of his list:

My introduction to basketball started with Michael Jordan. Before Michael Jordan, even though I know the greats, I know the history, I never really watched them. I go MJ. I go Kobe… Obviously, LeBron.. I’ll go with AI (Allen Iverson). One of my favorite players… Steph just did it in a whole different way none of us saw coming… I got Big Shaq… Kevin Garnett was one of the most versatile players I’ve ever seen.

All in all, Wade named Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, Steph Curry, and Kevin Garnett as his 7 greatest players he has watched live. It’s safe to say that not many would disagree with Wade’s list, but there are always some who have different opinions.

For example, some fans claimed that the former NBA player, Tim Duncan, would have been a good shout instead of Garnett. But that’s completely down to Wade’s eyes and his decision. Wade highlighted the variety of skills Garnett brought to the game in order to praise his adaptability. Garnett had it all, from leadership and communication to three-level scoring and outstanding defense.

With so many all-time greats, Wade’s list is unquestionably amazing. Wade has a claim to NBA greatness in this sense. The 13-time All-Star earned his spot in the Hall of Fame following a stellar career that included numerous championships.

Dwyane Wade made his case clear on LeBron James’ longevity

Dwayne Wade and Lebron James have been friends and teammates for years in the NBA with the Miami Heat back in the 2010s. They have a lot in common, but one thing only the current Lakers superstar can brag about is his longevity in the game. James is one of the only players who is currently going at the age of 40 in the NBA right now, showcasing his immense longevity in the sport.

To add to this, Wade made his case clear on James and dropped in huge praise for him, comparing him to an NFL legend in the process.

It’s no secret all of us are amazed. We haven’t seen an athlete in basketball do this, We watched Tom Brady still be dominant in football when he reached 40, but it’s not something we’ve seen in basketball at this level… there are some nights you watch him, and he looks like the same guy you watched in 2003 on occasion. It’s impressive.

James has been relentlessly going at it in the NBA for 22 years running, with the star set to return for another year of the chaotic NBA season with his side, the Los Angeles Lakers. Playing for 23 years in the NBA speaks volumes about his mentality in the sport. Also, one of the primary reasons why some media figures and former athletes choose LeBron above Jordan in the GOAT argument is his longevity.

Dwyane Wade at one moment wanted to go toe-to-toe with Michael Jordan

Injuries surely ruin players’ careers and potential. Take the Philadelphia Sixers star Joel Embiid, for example. However, there was another player back in the early 2000s where injuries ruin his career. This was none other than the former Miami Heat star Dwayne Wade. Last year, he opened up on what and how things would have been if he were to have an injury-free career.

So much so that Wade made a bold claim stating that he would go toe-to-toe with Michael Jordan at one point on the 7 PM in Brooklyn Podcast.

I’m not the greatest shooter of all time, but I was great at so many things. So nobody knows how to break down my game, When I had it, I had it. Before injuries, I thought, MJ, I am coming for you.

Wade talked about how, until injuries changed his course, he thought he was headed toward surpassing the basketball icon. No one truly understood his game as well as he did, he revealed. Nevertheless, Wade went on to create a legacy in Miami alongside James and Chris Bosh, forming the Big 3 and winning multiple titles together.
