Cengiz Under found his breakthrough in Turkey with Istanbul Basaksehir in the Super Lig.  He trained at the famous Altinordu academy in Turkey. He scored 2 goals against Besiktas as a 19-year-old in 2017 and truly announced himself on the global stage.

He then joined Roma to fill in shoes of Mohammed Salah who had moved to Liverpool. He made a slow start to his Roma career, but by the start of 2018, he had become a first team regular. He even scored his first Champions League goal against Shakhtar Donetsk

However, due to a change in coaches and a career riddled with injuries, Under soon found himself on the bench. With the emergence of Nicolo Zaniolo, Under found himself way down the pecking order. Hence, it was time Under needed to face a new challenge and Leicester came knocking.

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers commented, “He is a very good player. We need a different type of attacking player. Having watched him, he’s clearly a talented player.” “We need someone who can beat someone in a one-v-one, we need someone who can break down defences who are organised, when it’s tight. That’s the profile we’re looking at.”

With 4 goals and 3 assists in 11 Champions League appearances, Under would be the perfect fit to fill in the hole of Riyad Mahrez. There’s no doubt he is the ‘Dybala of the Bosphorus’.
