In the 14.4 overs, Wanindu Hasaranga dragged his length ball and served a googly. Hooda pre-mediated and hung back and got on his knee to slog-sweep it but missed the ball. The ball sneaked through to rattle the stumps.
Just then, in 18 four overs, RCB sent back their most recent captain KL Rahul back to the pavilion.
KL Rahul was playing against Josh Hazelwood a full toss outside off made Rahul shuffled across and attempted to scoop this towards fine leg where Shahbaz Ahmed grabbed the fine catch.
RCB had set a target of 208 with the help of a brilliant century from Rajat Patidar. He played 54 balls to score that ton which also happened for the first time in the history of IPL of a player to score century in the playoffs. Patidar was helped by Dinesh Karthik who scored a crucial 37 runs and had stayed in a 92-run partnership with Patidar.
At the post match presentation, LSG skipper KL Rahul said: “I think it’s quite obvious – the reasons why we didn’t win. We let ourselves down in the field. Dropping easy catches never helps. Difference was obviously Patidar playing such a knock. When someone in the top three scores a hundred, more often the team wins. They fielded really well and we were poor.
“We’ll take back a lot of positives. It’s a new franchise. We’ve made a lot of mistakes, every team does that. Have to try and come back stronger. It’s a young team. They’ll learn from their mistakes, go back home and try and be better players. Mohsin showed everybody how good he is and what skill he possesses. As he grows with confidence, he’ll be able to clock speeds which are much higher. He will learn and develop a few more skills hopefully by next season,” he added.
