Eagles’ CJ Gardner-Johnson shocked Travis Kelce with his trash talk during Super Bowl
CJ Gardner-Johnson explained his infamous tussle with Travis Kelce at the Super Bowl, which even extended to him targeting Swifties.

Among the many incidents from the night of February 9 that made their way to the headlines, the altercation between CJ Gardner-Johnson and Travis Kelce was found to be the most shocking, even by themselves. It’s been two weeks since and the Super Bowl champion Gardner-Johnson finally seems to have an explanation.
As much as the Super Bowl LIX was a nightmare for the Kansas City Chiefs, the Philadelphia Eagles could not have asked for a better start. For nearly three-quarters of the game, the Eagles held the Chiefs scoreless, enjoying a commanding 34-0 lead. The frustration was evident on the faces of the two-time Super Bowl defending champions, including the star tight end, who may have played the last game of his career that could not have ended on a worse note.
In an attempt to get a hold of the game, quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw a pass towards Kelce but it ended up being incomplete. The Eagles star safety found this moment perfect to taunt the legendary tight end, delivering a sharp hit to his back. In response, Kelce immediately sprang up and charged at Gardner-Johnson, bumping into him as he ran forward.
“Second quarter, I’m like, Oh yeah, he’s scared of us,” Gardner-Johnson explained on NFL Digest Show.
The stadium was 95% Eagles fans… The whole Kelce situation, I said that to him on the field, and he looked at me like, no one ever talks to him like that… I don’t know if it’s smoke, but let me know… I ain’t ducking.

This was just one of the incidents where the Super Bowl champion targeted the ten-time Pro Bowler. He also revealed at the post-game interview about trying numerous mind game techniques on Kelce throughout the game.

The Philly defensive back was on cloud nine as his team pulled off the dominating 44-22 feat over the Chiefs, stopping them from making unprecedented history. But more than anyone else, he enjoyed taunting the future Hall of Famer Kelce. Following the game, he shared a picture of his tussle with Kelce from the game with a caption taunting his high-profile romance with Taylor Swift.
“[Kelce] should’ve stayed with that thick s**t,” wrote the safety, referring to Kelce’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Nicole, who was celebrating the Eagles’ Super Bowl championship feat.
If that wasn’t enough, the 27-year-old doubled down on his criticism by involving the Swifties. He proudly wore a t-shirt imprinted with “Swifties can LIX my b***s” at the Super Bowl parade. Swifties fought back by bombarding his mother’s restaurant with bad reviews on Yelp, however, it was later found out that the restaurant had already closed in January.
