Football fans, whether young or old, love to rub a win on each other’s faces. The same can be said of the Philadelphia Eagles and their fanbase, infamous for their banter culture.

The Eagles traveled to New Orleans in week 3, hoping to bounce back from their recent defeat against the Falcons. The Saints surprised everyone this year by manhandling the Dallas Cowboys just a few days ago.

After a slow three-quarters of football, the game lit up in the fourth. A touchdown from Saquon Barkley gave the Eagles the lead, but the Saints slowly fought their way in as quarterback Derek Carr threw a 13-yard touchdown pass to Chris Olave.

The Superdome was buzzing as fans finally had some entertainment to celebrate. It got even better for the away fans after Jalen Hurts dropped off the ball to Barkley once more to score a 4-yard touchdown with barely a minute left until the final whistle. The two-point conversation sealed the game as it ended 15-12 for the Eagles.

A short clip from the stands later surfaced on social media in which an Eagles fan can be seen taunting a young Saints fan by flashing his wristwatch—’the Shedeur’ (a celebration made famous by Colorado Buffaloes quarterback Shedeur Sanders).

Jalen Carter joined in on the fun

Although the Eagles were favorites for the win despite their slow start to the season, the Saints fought tooth and nail, making the victory taste sweeter. Even the players joined in with fans to celebrate.

Second-year defensive tackle Jalen Carter got way too much into it, though. After the game ended, he ran near the Saints, dug out, and found veteran defensive backs Marshon Lattimore and Tyrann Mathieu, showing them the double thumbs down. The gesture ticked Matthieu off, who was seen shouting at the Eagles sideline.

Carter did not stop there. He kept walking the sidelines, trying to bait the Saints fans. Some of them were seen booing the Georgia graduate. Before the situation became hostile, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni and chief security officer Dom DiSandro stepped in.

Reporters later asked Sirianni about the de-escalation, but he refrained from talking too much about it. Instead, he highlighted that Carter was a star on the night as they were able to limit the free-scoring Saints to just 12 offensive points.

Up next, the Eagles will travel to Florida and play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers while the Saints prepare themselves for the NFC South showdown against the Atlanta Falcons.
