After getting super close to the Vince Lombardi trophy, the Philadelphia Eagles have been failing repeatedly in recent years. As they prepare for the upcoming season, the franchise is focusing on solidifying the offense with new additions, while also strengthening their existing ones. 

The Eagles have one biggest advantage over the reigning Super Bowl champions, which is their unbeatable receiver duo with A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith. And while the latter continues to prioritize other aspects, the former made sure to secure their weapons for the foreseeable future.

One move that stunned the entire industry as well as fans was the giant contract extension that Philly offered receiver Smith. On Monday, the franchise officially announced the news of signing the former Heisman Trophy winner in a three-year deal worth $75 million, after previously enabling his fifth-year option.

As many believe, there can’t be a better pairing than Brown and Smith, given they complement each other perfectly and are a strong, reliable offensive weapon for quarterback Jalen Hurts.

Under head coach Nick Sirianni, Smith succeeded in making the playoffs for the third straight season, and as he comes of age, he continues to get better. 

Smith’s three-year contract includes a $51 million guarantee and ensures the receiver’s place on the Eagles’ roster until the 2028 NFL season. This will come into action after the completion of his fifth-year option, which the Eagles exercised earlier. As per that, he will make $3.4 million in 2024 and $15.6 million in 2025.
