The former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback brought the Philadelphia Eagles their second Super Bowl trophy. But while everyone can’t stop talking about his February performance, College Football Show host Josh Pate couldn’t help but recall the rare moment of his life when Jalen Hurts made the tough Nick Saban cry.

Hurts’ journey to the Super Bowl LIX trophy was paved with perseverance, highlighted by a defining moment in the 2018 SEC Championship game. During the appearance on Barstool Sports’ Unnecessary Roughness, Pate recalled the night of the championship feat, seeing Saban tear down.

The 2018 SEC Championship Game, the one I just referenced, all the games I’ve been to, that’s the most memorable moment because like you saw, the display on the field, you saw Nick Saban get choked up in the postgame interview. So I happen to walk off the field with him, Nick Saban like I’m right behind him because the media place was up Alabama’s tunnel. So Saban gets off the field, and then like breaks down [and] just bawls his eyes out and I saw that.

Much of Saban’s emotional moment stemmed from Hurts’ bumpy road as he was benched at halftime for Tua Tagovailoa at the 2018 National Championship Game despite leading the Crimson Tide to back-to-back appearances. At that moment, many assumed Hurts would get a transfer but he stayed and Saban was utterly impressed by his decision.

In the 2018 SEC Championship game, the Philadelphia Eagles star quarterback got an opportunity to redeem himself after Tagovailoa got injured. He stepped in to score a touchdown and ran for another, leading Alabama to a 35-28 feat over Georgia.

Nick Saban’s daughter celebrates Jalen Hurts’ Super Bowl LIX triumph

Since that day, former head coach Saban realized that Hurts was meant for greatness, which he clearly demonstrated by destroying the two-time Super Bowl defending champions, the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. Saban’s daughter posted a special story for Hurts to celebrate his notable feat.

Kristen Saban posted an Instagram story with a picture of the Eagles Super Bowl MVP quarterback in green with a one-word caption of “HIM” alongside a flying Eagle bird emoji.

Just like her retired head coach father, Kristen was also rooting for the Eagles. He stood by everyone’s expectations by finishing the game with 17 completions on 22 attempts with 221 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. Additionally, he also rushed with 11 carries for 72 yards.
