The Philadelphia Eagles are off to a hot start with two wins in two games, but the start hasn’t been exactly phenomenal. The Eagles are under fire from the media for their offensive strategy, especially how they have utilized their iconic Tush Push.

The Eagles’ Week 2 win against the Kansas City Chiefs was marred by several instances where crucial fouls were committed by the Eagles’ offense. Dean Blandino, FOX Sports rules analyst, said that he was done with this strategy which is very difficult to officiate. Tom Brady who was in the commentary box agreed with Blandino’s take and called for pushback.

The calls for the end of Tush Push didn’t originate in Week 2. In the offseason, the Green Bay Packers introduced a motion to ban the specific play, which ultimately failed to materialize. Adam Schefter recently brought it up and criticized the NFL owners for refusing to ban the strategy in March. Schefter also claimed that Tush Push was the reason why the Eagles won their Week 2 duel.

This game was lost in March. This game was lost when the NFL owners refused to ban the tush push from happening. It wasn’t lost yesterday.

However, the Eagles OT Jordan Mailata isn’t bothered about the heightened scrutiny from the media nor the statements made by Schefter. He said, on Wednesday:

I don’t give a f— what Adam Schefter says, to be honest. I ain’t the one calling the plays on my team… Pardon my language, pardon my French. I’m not calling the plays, and I don’t care what Adam Schefter says. Sorry about that.

Mailata called out the rest of the league to attempt the same play and admitted that they can do it. He even called it an art, which requires a lot of organized coordination and mess. The way he put it was that the Eagles’ gatekeeping was the reason behind the criticism about the specific play online.

Jordan Mailata wants to enjoy Tush Push while he still can

The heightened criticism is quite suggestive that the NFL will move to ban this specific offensive tactic in the coming offseason. Jordan Mailata, who’s not a fan of this projected move, despite his stance, admitted that he has to face it if it comes to that.

Mailata compared the feeling of the inevitable to the doctor letting a patient know about the months they have left to live. He added that he will live it up in these short months he gets to enact Tush Push. He said about the potential ban:

It’s like a sad day, but at the same time, I’ve got to live it up. It’s like, what do you do when you have six months to live? I’m going to live it up, so. Hell, we might even call it 18 times this game. We’ll see.

Center Cam Jurgens was, however, not too worried about the death of the play. He claimed that he only cared about winning the games. He was channeling quarterback Jalen Hurts’ sassy comeback statement against the Chiefs’ DT Chris Jones

The Eagles, after their perfect start to defending their title, will face the Los Angeles Rams this week. The Rams are also 2-0 following wins against the Atlanta Falcons and Houston Texans.
