The good news is that the Philadelphia Eagles are 4-2, but the bad news is that they have lost the last two fixtures against the Denver Broncos and the New York Giants. Sean Payton’s Broncos exposed the weakness in the Eagles’ offense, which had already developed small cracks.
Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo’s play-calling came under severe scrutiny. Patullo found support from head coach Nick Sirianni and the players amidst rising tensions in the locker room.
In week five, they faced a Giants side that was missing their number one wide receiver, led by a rookie quarterback, and was coming off a defeat in the previous week.
Despite being the heavy favorites to beat their divisional rivals, the Eagles suffered a 17-34 defeat. Quarterback Jalen Hurts threw for 283 yards, 2 overall touchdowns, and 1 interception, which the Giants nearly converted into a pick-6.
AJ Brown caught 6 for 80, while tight end Dallas Goedert racked up 100 yards and 1 score. However, don’t be fooled by the box score because if the Eagles players were on the same page and Patullo called a better game, then they would have been celebrating their fifth win of the season.
In reality, Hurts overthrew Brown and DeVonta Smith on several occasions. More importantly, Patullo ran similar plays all night, which, after a period, became predictable for Daboll’s defense. Hence the interception.

Retired NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky advised the Eagles to make some changes to their offense before playing the Minnesota Vikings in Week seven.
The Eagles gotta make a change on offense. They’re in the shotgun way too much. Philadelphia, you’d better get out of the shotgun as much as you are because it’s killing your offense… I’ll go to the pick-six, Greeny. They ran that same concept four times. The same way. Essentially, out of the same alignment. Defenses know what’s going on.

The Eagles have opened as -2.5 point favorites over the Vikings.
Eagles players expressed varied opinions on Kevin Patullo’s play calling
The Eagles front office envisioned a smooth transition from Kellen Moore to Patullo after Moore left to coach the New Orleans Saints. Moore spearheaded the Eagles’ offense from the shadows, unleashing Saquon Barkley and Hurts on NFL defenses.

Moore amplified the tush push by creating several different variations to fool the opposition’s defensive lines. Despite inheriting Moore’s legacy, the offense has regressed under Patullo’s command.
We have things that we talk about, and then a lot of it goes out there, and the execution isn’t there. We get behind the chains, I get very predictable… we’ve been very stagnant offensively.

Hurts presented a different viewpoint when asked about the Eagles’ offensive struggles.
You don’t look at it that way—not as a quarterback. You know, you got so many opportunities in the game to take advantage of it.
Jalen Hurts said
Hurts, along with Barkley, Smith, and Brown, reportedly organized a player meeting to find a solution ahead of their trip to the Big Apple. However, Brown dismissed the report of ever taking part in any meeting.
Patullo is in the hot seat. A section of the Eagles’ fans wants the front office to rehire Doug Pederson as the OC.
Doug Pederson says he “probably would consider” coming back to the #Eagles in an offensive consultant role if they were to ask.

The Eagles have remained mum about the rumors. But they will have to address the growing unrest sooner rather than later.
