Eagles’ Saquon Barkley Sends Warning to the Cowboys and Commanders Ahead of 2025 Season: “BTA When I See Them”
Saquon Barkley claimed neither the Cowboys nor the Commanders contacted him when he was a free agent before signing for the Eagles in 2024.

The Dallas Cowboys could have fixed their run game by signing a player of Saquon Barkley’s caliber. The 28-year-old waited for Jerry Jones to make the call, but it never came.
Barkley, similar to OBJ, wanted to stay in New York. However, frequent issues regarding his contract extension soured his relationship with the brass. Despite earning the right to a big extension, Barkley had to settle for playing with the franchise tag in 2023.
The situation did not improve the following year either. Barkley’s demand wasn’t adhered to. He made the hard choice of leaving the Giants to enter free agency. Philly came calling and agreed to pay him a little over $12 million per year until 2027.
Now, this could have easily been either the Cowboys or the Washington Commanders. Barkley had zero qualms about joining either of the rosters. However, neither team showed any interest.
“Never heard of… Commanders or Dallas. That’s it’s BTA when I see them [both],” Saquon Barkley told TikTok star and Commanders’ supporter, Janky Rondo, at DeVonta Smith’s celebrity softball game on Saturday.

Everyone knows how Barkley’s first year in Philly turned out. He won the Super Bowl, set the Eagles franchise record for scrimmage yards, became the Offensive Player of the Year, and EA picked him to star on the cover of Madden 26.
Barkley wasn’t the only high-profile running back waiting for an offer from the Cowboys. All-Pro rusher and 2020 OPOY, Derrick Henry, wanted to sign with the Cowboys after leaving the Tennessee Titans. Henry posted several workout videos from his house in Dallas, but Jones ignored all of them.
Henry eventually stayed in the AFC to sign for the Baltimore Ravens. Hosts of the Pivot podcast asked Henry about whether the Cowboys showed any interest. Henry replied via NFL.com,
They never reached out, you know what I’m saying? I don’t really know too much about their organization. All I know is what I hear. I was talking to my agent. They weren’t really interested.
The Cowboys rolled with undrafted free agent Rico Dowdle. Despite giving them a 1000-yard season, Jones released Dowdle, who later signed for the Carolina Panthers.
Saquon Barkley discussed how faith has changed his life
Barkley’s success during the 2024 season was largely due to his elite skill set and consistent hard work in training. But there’s one other aspect of his life that made him a better player and a person.

In an interview with golf social media influencer Grant Horvat, Barkley revealed his newly discovered appreciation for religion.
I just became a Christian not too long ago. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the best year I had in my career, I found my faith. It gives me some clarity in life.
Barkley revealed
He doesn’t consider himself an expert, but reading the Bible has opened an entirely different world for him.
What religion and faith is, having a relationship with God and understanding who Jesus is, and that’s what I’ve been trying to do this year. I’m going to continue to try to get better at it.

The Cowboys blew the chance to sign one of the greatest running backs of the present generation. The Eagles did not. After the magnificent 2024 season, they sweetened Barkley’s contract. He signed a two-year, $41.2 million extension with $36 million guaranteed.
