East Bengal ‘premik’ Soumitra Chatterjee passes away at 85
Legendary Bengali movie actor Soumitra Chatterjee passes away at 85. Chatterjee was on ventilator support for 40 days and was suffering from Covid-19. A ‘premik’ or lover of East Bengal has now departed.
A man whose legacy and greatness is unmatched and unparalleled has left mortal life and left behind his genius works. Soumitra Chatterjee will always be the star of Indian cinema.
Soumitra Chatterjee – the East Bengal fan
As all Bengalis he too was an avid football fan and his allegiance lay in the hands of the “Lal aar holud” which means The Red and Yellow of East Bengal FC.
Speaking at the club’s 100th anniversary he said
‘ I was never an avid football fan from the beginning. However during my college days I made sure to go and watch matches at the stadium.
I have been very proud of East Bengal and love it very much. I remember the legendary front 3 of that time with great pride. Even thinking about it gives me chills.
