No other basketball player at age 40 and playing in his 23rd season moves like LeBron James. The ageless wonder is still leaving fans’ jaws on the floor every game he is a part of.
A week ago, there were legitimate concerns when the superstar was struggling to score even 10 points. His movement looked slow, and his burst, something that has stood the test of time, was seemingly missing.
Then it was revealed that he was dealing with both sciatica and arthritis. After missing a game, it seems the Akron native has not seemed to have missed a beat.
In his previous game, he stunned everyone with not only a monster tomahawk dunk in transition, but his late flurry of points effectively ended all those ‘washed’ allegations.
Now, in the NBA Cup quarter-finals, LeBron James has once again proved that to him, age is just a number. With just a minute left before halftime, the “King” gathered the ball in the Lakers’ half, sized up the Spurs, and then drove down the hill.
As he came close to the basket, Luke Kornet was manning the paint. But James did not care and vaulted to throw down a monster dunk on the 7-foot center.
"OHHHH LEBRON JAMES… A FEROCIOUS FLUSH!"

As has been the norm for the past 23 seasons, the 4-time champion then yelled and flexed in Kornet’s face for a good few seconds, to let him know the forward still has it.
Fans in awe after LeBron James’ monster dunk
Basketball fans have seen instances of LeBron James posterizing taller opponents before. His own teammate, German forward Maxi Kleber, was once a victim.
Then the superstar’s close friend, Kevin Love, also found himself on the receiving end of one such rim explosion, for which the two Cavaliers teammates wrestled later.
But those were when the Lakers star was in his 30s. For someone about to turn 41 in less than 3 weeks, this was beyond stunning. Fans left their shocked responses on social media, examples of which are below:

LeBron James might need to do a lot more than just throw down imposing dunks on opponents, as the Los Angeles Lakers are still not highly rated to become championship contenders.
The Oklahoma City Thunder are the league’s benchmark, and have proved this season that they are a league above the rest. If the Lakers are to win anything, they have to find a way to defeat the defending champions.
LeBron James and Lakers won’t be playing the Thunder in NBA Cup Finals
If LeBron James and his Los Angeles Lakers win this quarter-final battle against the San Antonio Spurs, then they can set up a showdown against the league’s best team in the NBA Cup semis.

But that was not to happen, as the away squad put in a complete team effort to defeat the men in purple and gold with a score of 132-119. They managed to do that without the injured Victor Wembanyama.
James scored 19 points and grabbed a game-high 15 rebounds. But that effort was not enough, as he and Luka Doncic did not have the support they needed from the rest of the team.
If the Lakers are to do something meaningful this season, head coach JJ Redick has to bring the others into play. Leaning on just his top 3 players has proven not to be enough.
