Ruben Amorim was surprisingly interrupted by English singer-songwriter and Ipswich Town minority owner Ed Sheeran during an interview following his first game in charge. The Portuguese wasn’t pleased with the result and was answering questions from Jamie Redknapp, Roy Keane, Kelly Cates and Izzy Christiansen when Sheeran ‘gatecrashed’ the interview.

While Sheeran’s intent was far from interrupting proceedings, it became evident that the United boss wasn’t pleased. Sheeran is heard saying ‘I don’t think he wants to speak to me‘ before leaving the scene, with the interview resuming shortly.

Awkwardly, Amorim also acknowledged the singer’s suggestion that the Portuguese doesn’t want to talk to him. Hours later, Ed Sheeran took to social media, as he sent a public apology for the unintended interruption.

Apologies if I offended Amorim yesterday, didn’t actually realise he was being interviewed at the time.

Sheeran also clarified that he was only popping in to say ‘hi and bye’ to presenter Jamie Redknapp.

Ruben Amorim impressed with 22-year-old star despite unfavorable result

Manchester United got to a roaring start in their first game under Ruben Amorim. Even though Marcus Rashford opened the scoring in under 90 seconds, the club eventually had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Portman Road.

Following the game, Amorim opened up about his side’s showing as he pointed out one particular player he was impressed with. 22-year-old Amad Diallo set up Rashford for the opener as he broke free from his marker and sent in an inviting pass into the penalty area. Amorim was keen on lauding the youngster after his performance.

He was very good. In three days, he improved so much defensively. He was so focused. He did a very good job.

Ruben Amorim told the press

With Diallo’s performance against Ipswich, fans are of the opinion that the Ivorian will play a significant role under the new manager this season.

Despite joining the club in January 2021, the forward has only played 34 games for the club. Fans are hoping that injuries will no longer be a problem for the forward, allowing him to thrive under Amorim. United is currently in 12th position after as many games with 16 points. The next game for the club comes against Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.
