The former UFC Lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez never gets an opportunity to face the current Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov inside the Octagon. Still, he never misses a chance to take a shot at the champion.

Eddie Alvarez won the UFC Lightweight title by defeating Rafael Dos Anjos by a first-round TKO. But he lost in on the very night fight against Conor McGregor at UFC 205 in which ‘The Notorious’ knocked him out and become the champ.

He last fought in UFC in a fight against Dustin Poirier in July 2018 and after this fight, he left UFC and joined One Championship. Alvarez still believes that he is a really bad matchup for Khabib Nurmagomedov.

In his latest interview with Morning Kombat, Alvarez says, “I am the only matchup that will make any sense or give him a terrible time. There is one guy who gave Khabib Nurmagomedov a terrible time in the whole division Gleison Tibau. Tibau is not overly great at anything and neither am I,”

‘The Eagle’ Khabib Nurmagomedov fought with Gleison Tibau in his very second fight at UFC. He is one of those fighters who took Khabib into the deepest waters and many UFC Pundits believe that Tibau won that fight.

But at the end of three rounds judges scored it in favor of Khabib. Talking about this Alvarez says, “I’m not a great striker, I am not a great wrestler. I am not a great jiu-jitsu guy. I am athletic; I have a strong spirit and I will fight to the death.”

“Tibau had a good solid gameplan and he arguably won that fight against Nurmagomedov, He was able to match Khabib’s strengths. He threw good straight shots and he was able to negate a lot of Khabib’s wrestling.”

“That is what I am able to do against virtually every opponent I have fought. Styles make matchups and anybody who is involved with the sport at a high level knows that,”
