On April 20th, Ryan Garcia faced off against his rival, Devin Haney, in what was expected to be a high-stakes battle. KingRy managed to emerge victorious, handing Haney his first professional loss. However, a few days later, it was revealed that Garcia had tested positive for two different drugs. As such, Haney’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has now weighed in on the situation and shared his thoughts.

Both tests were conducted the day before and on the day of the match. Subsequently, a banned substance called Ostarine was found in both samples. ‘KingRy’ claimed he was innocent and demanded that B-samples be examined. Furthermore, the B sample result also came back positive for the PED Ostarine. The skilled boxer will now have to appear before the NYSAC on a date to be determined. Amidst this, Hearn spoke about the situation during an interview.

The fight will definitely be a no-contest, it's just whether that's a disqualification or a no-contest or whatever is gonna happen. But I think the rematch is massive

Hearn firmly believes that the fight should have never happened. This is because Garcia weighed 3.2 pounds more than Haney and had a significant weight advantage. However, this extra weight was agreed upon by both fighters after the weigh-in, but the use of PEDs changed the matter.

So far, Haney has given no sign that he wants to fight Garcia again and remains apprehensive about it. However, his promoter, Hearn, sees the potential in the rematch and believes that the fight would be a huge event.

Devin Haney responds to Ryan Garcia’s hair sample test

Following his win over Haney in April, Ryan Garcia failed two drug tests. However, he asked that the B samples from his two tests be analyzed as well, hoping to prove lab contamination was the cause of his positive drug test.

Subsequently, it showed the same level of Ostarine as the original samples, meaning that the banned substance was present in his body on fight night. Following the results, ‘KingRy’ claimed to have had his hair tested as well. The results were sent to a lab in Paris, where they were confirmed to be free of Ostarine.

Hence, Garcia attempted to portray that some kind of contamination was done with the VADA test results. However, Devin Haney has accused his former rival of taking the hair sample before using the PEDs. In addition, he accused him of using the hair test to hide his actual drug test result.
