Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard has suffered yet another injury in his Madrid career after just returning from a muscle injury. He played 15 minutes in his last game against Elche and was seen absent in training on Monday.

Real Madrid laid out an official statement saying he has suffered yet another muscle injury and Zidane confirmed the news in his pre-match press conference. Although the duration of his injury is unknown reports say he might miss 4-5 weeks.

Hazard might require surgery on his ankle and faces another 4-6 weeks out of action

Zidane, who has specifically asked for calm during his previous injuries was surprised with the recent developments and could not explain any cause. When questioned about the nature of the new problem at his press conference on Monday, Zidane said: “It’s something new. I can’t really give any more of an explanation.”

“He is not in a condition to be with us. We will release something now shortly and I cannot tell you more.

“These are things that I cannot explain to you. I hope it is little because you have to be positive. He is a player who has never been injured or little in his career and this is a new situation for him. We are with him and we want him to be well.

“We want to help him and we hope that he will be with us soon. I ask our fans to wait for him. We know the player he is and our fans want to see him play, like the coach, the club and his team-mates. We are going to have patience and wait.”

Zidane grew frustrated with the number of questions about Hazard and dismissed suggestions of a problem with the club’s medical department, despite the number of Madrid injuries this season. 

“I don’t think there is a problem, we have very competent people here, who are close to the players every day,” he said.  We are trying to find out what is happening with the injured players, there are things that happen in football. We have spoken about the pre-season, about the number of games, and things up here in the head as well, which influences a lot.” 

Real Madrid have a 1-0 lead to protect against Atalanta in their 2nd leg of the round of 16 tie on Tuesday. Along with Hazard, Casemiro will also miss the clash against Atalanta due to a suspension.
