Edge reveals his thoughts on Christian joining AEW

Edge and Christian

Edge and Christian are best friends in real life. The duo reunited in the WWE ring at the WWE Royal Rumble 2021. Both of them had retired due to injuries, but their return to the ring got the WWE Universe hyped.

Seeing them together inside the ring, instantly led to the fantasy booking between the former tag team partners. But all the plans are up in the air, with Christian joining All Elite Wrestling. The Rated-R Superstar recently discussed the subject of Christian signing with AEW.

“I’m not bummed. I want him to be happy and I want him to get the respect that he deserves because I’d like for him to get the on-air respect that the locker room shows him. If you ask anyone within our industry, he’s a name where people go, ‘Man, that dude.’ Watch Steve [Austin] and Randy [Orton] talk about [Christian] and what he brings to the table. I want him to be wherever he’s going to get that respect.”

Edge gave an emotional response when he was asked whether he was disappointed about Christian not staying with WWE. Christian made his in-ring debut on the latest episode of AEW Dynamite.

Christian, on his debut match for AEW, defeated Frankie Kazarian. The duo have known each other for long, and had even faced each other twice on a different promotion.

Edge wants Christian to get on-air respect

Christian and Edge reunited at WWE Royal Rumble

The 2021 Royal Rumble winner made it clear that irrespective of the company, he wants Christian to be happy. He also hoped that this time they get to retire on their own terms and are not forced into it like the last time.

“Whatever the initials are, he’s my best friend and I want him to be happy and do what I’m hopefully able to do, which is go out on your own terms and see this thing through properly instead of ‘you’re done.’ We’ve both been in that scenario.”

While Christian began his journey on AEW, Edge is gearing up for his Triple Threat Universal Championship match. He faces Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns on the Night Two of Wrestlemania 37.
