Edinson Cavani extends stay at Manchester United till end of next season

Manchester United have been in great form coming into the final stretch of the season. One of the main reasons for their revival has been the presence of a goal-scoring focal point up top.

Edinson Cavani has portrayed that role to perfection scoring important goals and his experience has come to fore in recent matches. And the Uruguayan striker who was signed for free this season was urged by both the manager and the fans to extend his stay at the club. That is exactly what he has done as the club confirmed his contract extension.

Their wish seems to have been answered as Cavani has signed a new contract extension at Manchester United. The contract will see him stay for another year at Old Trafford.

Initially the signing of an ageing striker was not welcomed by many of the United fans and the Uruguayan himself struggled to fit into Solskjaer’s plans. And there were talks that he would leave next season after the difficult phase early on in England.

However, Cavani has had a change of heart. The Manchester United manager, Solskjaer was determined to keep the experienced striker at the club and the United board agreed to hid request.

Edinson Cavani recently became the first Man United No.7 to score more than 10 goals in a campaign since Cristiano Ronaldo and his impact on the side has been there to see.

Solskjaer had displayed his affection for Cavani in a post-match press conference after being asked about his future at the club.
