Shahbazyan is coming off his first ever loss in his professional MMA career, after Derek Brunson TKOed him at UFC Fight Night: Brunson vs Shahbazyan, in August 2020. Prior to that he was on a 11 fight win streak. Shahbazyan will have to wait a week longer before he continues his quest for getting back to winning ways.

Hermansson on the other hand, is coming off a war against Marvin Vettori, in December 2020. He lost the fight via. a narrow split decision, but he and Vettori went home with the Fight of the Night bonuses.

Aaron Bronsteter confirms the reason!

Was informed by Dana White that it is due to a COVID-19 case in Hermansson’s camp“, Bronsteter tweeted, confirming that UFC President Dana White had informed him of a case of COVID-19 in Hermansson’s camp.

The fight is not off, it has just been pushed back one week. But the sad part is that it will take place in an empty Vegas arena, instead of a packed Toyota Center in Houston.
