Oakland Athletics pitcher Austin Adams managed to enrage the whole New York Mets fan base and even the players on Tuesday. He imitated their signature ‘OMG’ celebration move as he shouted towards the dugout.
The Mets take pride in their ‘OMG’ celebration, and imitating the move riled up the players, especially pitcher Edwin Diaz. Diaz warned Adams not to feel bad about whatever they do to him in the next few days after his taunt.
Loud boos could be heard all over the Citi Field on Tuesday after the incident. The incident took place after Adams struck out Jeff McNeil, got Jose Iglesias to foul, and provoked Francisco Alvarez to swing through strike three.
He crossed a line because that’s something we do when we hit a homer or something. He (can) do it always, that’s fine. But, he can’t get mad if we do something to him the next couple of days.Edwin Diaz on X.
