The English Football League Cup, well known as the Carabao Cup, is in its final stages, with two teams having made it to the penultimate match of the competition. Defending champions Liverpool will face EPL rivals Newcastle United.

Out of the 90 clubs that started out in the competition, only two Premier League sides have been left behind. The Carabao Cup would offer a unique opportunity to secure a major piece of silverware. It also gives the winning team an opportunity to straightaway qualify for the Europa League group stages in case they fail to make it past the EPL standings.

2024-25 EFL Cup Final Schedule

The Carabao Cup final is scheduled for March 16, 2025. It will be hosted at the iconic Wembley Stadium in London, which has been the traditional venue for the final every year. Runaway favorites Liverpool, who have made it to their 15th final, look to win the competition for the 11th time.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United mark only their third EFL Cup final appearance. Their most recent final appearance came in the 2022-23 season of the competition, where they lost out to Manchester United. The Magpies will be hoping to lay hands on their first major trophy since the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2006.

2024-25 EFL Cup Final Fixture

Liverpool made it through to the final of the EFL Cup with a brilliant 4-0 second-leg win over Tottenham. They overturned a first leg deficit of 1-0, thanks to goals from Cody Gakpo, Mohamed Salah, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Virgil van Dijk. They had beaten Southampton, Brighton and West Ham in the previous three rounds.

Newcastle United, on the other hand, comfortably secured a 2-0 win over Arsenal in the second-leg. The Magpies rode on goals from Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon to reach the final of the EFL Cup. The final will be a single-match affair, with the match heading into extra time and penalties in case of a deadlock.

The title clash between Liverpool and Newcastle on the 16th of March falls just a day prior to St. Patrick’s Day. Kick-off time is yet to be confirmed. However, the 2024 final kicked off at 3:00 PM GMT.

In the United States, the match can be viewed live on Paramount+. In the United Kingdom, viewers can tune in to Sky Sports Football to watch the final.
