Elena Rybakina is the only woman ranked inside the top 5 left in the Wimbledon women’s singles draw. The 2022 champion has secured herself a spot in the quarterfinal of this year’s edition after Anna Kalinskaya was forced to retire midway through the second set when she was trailing 3-6, 0-3.
As she is the highest seed left and has experience playing high-stakes matches, many believe her to be the favorite to win the title and add another Wimbledon trophy to her tally. When asked about these expectations, Rybakina suggested that she enjoys it but at the same time doesn’t want to let it affect her performance or approach to her matches.
It feels good of course if people think so (smiling). It’s still far to go to the final. Still a lot of matches in front. As I always say, it’s just match by match and we will see how it goes. Definitely I want to go far and try to win it.--Well I don’t really think about this when I go on the court. Of course it gives more confidence, but no matter what, there are still a lot of good players. I don’t really think about it so much.Elena Rybakina said in Wimbledon Press Conference
She opened up about the pressures of being the only top-5 player left in the Wimbledon draw, mentioning that she does not feel as much pressure as she may have if she was not enjoying playing.
(On being the heavy favorite to win the tournament) It feels good of course if people think so (smiling). It’s still far to go to the final. Still a lot of matches in front. As I always say, it’s just match by match and we will see how it goes. Definitely I want to go far and try to win it.

Elena Rybakina reacts to being informed that she is now part of an elite list as she soars at Wimbledon
With her win on Monday, Rybakina achieved a win percentage of 90% at the Wimbledon Championships. This impressive stat is only equaled by two other women in the open era, Steffi Graf and Ann Jones.
When an interviewer in her press conference informed her, she responded by saying that she knew she was winning more on grass but was not aware of the stats.
I didn’t know about these stats. I know I’ve been winning a lot on grass. But it’s nice to be next to these names with these statistics. I think it’s great to be there and really happy I’m showing good tennis on grass.Elena Rybakina said
She was also ecstatic about being on the name list as those two greats of the game. Next, Rybakina will take on Elina Svitolina on Wednesday for the spot in the Wimbledon semifinals.
