4-time MLB All-Star Juan Soto and the Los Angeles Dodgers were two things that trended at the top during the offseason. After the Dodgers went big in the offseason, many started labeling them as the villains of the league. Hollywood actress Elizabeth Olsen recently defended her beloved Dodgers and labeled Soto as the “villain” of MLB.

Soto shattered sporting records in December 2024 when he penned down the biggest contract in professional sports history. The Dominican international agreed to join the New York Mets on a massive 15-year $765 million deal. While doing so, he would turn down the 16-year $760 million deal of the New York Yankees and make a switch to their city rivals.

Olsen recently made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. During this, she admitted thinking that Jimmy Fallon was a Boston Red Sox fan.

After the TV host affirmed that he is a Yankees fan, she spoke about how the Dodgers were a likable team and that the city of New York had all the villains instead. The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) actress then proceeded to name Giancarlo Stanton and Juan Soto as two big villains of the league.

I respect the city so much. You guys have all the villains in the league. The Astros are villains, but you can’t ignore Giancarlo is Gaston. Juan Soto is the villain of Major League Baseball.

Since his move to the Mets, Soto had seemingly become the “villain” in the eyes of some Yankees fans. After the news of his deal came out, several fans burned down the No.22 jerseys of him. One fan would also go viral on social media for delivering an NSFW message to him while standing outside of the CitiField, home of the Mets.

While the time the World Series was going on, Olsen had undergone a “laparoscopy procedure” while pointing toward her midsection. A laparoscopy procedure is a minimally invasive surgical procedure that is done to examine the organs inside the abdomen or the pelvis. Due to this, she was unable to jump off the sofa and cheer aggressively.

I was so bummed because it was in the middle of the World Series, and I’m a very aggressive cheerer at home. I was so sad that I wasn’t gonna be able to do my normal, you know, jumping out of the sofa thing.

Elizabeth Olsen said

Fortunately for her, the pain she might have gone through was eased by a dominating win from her team. After taking a 3-0 series lead, the Dodgers closed out the Fall Classic in Game 5 following a comeback 7-6 victory and won the series 4-1.

Los Angeles Dodgers swept Chicago Cubs in Tokyo Series to make a perfect start for the 2025 season

The Los Angeles Dodgers picked up 2025 from where they left the 2024 season. This past week, they opened the new season while taking on the Chicago Cubs in a 2-game Tokyo Series. The World Series champions swept their National League rivals to make a perfect 2-0 start.

The first game saw the Dodgers come back from 1-0 down to win 4-1. Superstar Shohei Ohtani had two hits in this game as Yoshinobu Yamamoto picked up the win in front of the Japanese crowd.

The second game saw Ohtani lit up the Tokyo Dome with his first home run of the season. After home runs from Tommy Edman and Enrique Hernandez had put the team in a comfortable position, the 30-year-old connected a towering shot into the right side of the field.

His home run though has become a topic of debate. As the ball came down, it seemed to have touched the outstretched hand of a fan. Despite the reviews, the home run call stood and the home run was credited to Ohtani. Japanese star Roki Sasaki went on to pick up his first MLB win as the Dodgers won Game 2 6-3 and swept the Cubs.

The Dodgers will now take part in 3 exhibition games against the Los Angeles Angels. After the Freeway Series, they will turn their attention to the season opener against the Detroit Tigers at home on March 27.
