Elliott Sadler is one of the iconic figures of NASCAR despite not amassing a lot of success over the years in the sports. He is known the most for his exploits in the Xfinity Series with JR Motorsports, which unfortunately didn’t result in a championship win. One of the legacies he has left in stock car racing world is his 2010 Pocono Cup race clash.
He had a wild crash in 2010 in Pocono while he was driving for Richard Petty Motorsports in the No:19 Ford. NASCAR hasn’t yet released footage of the wreck where the motors of the car got ripped off after the contact. In the recent episode of Dale Jr. Download podcast that featured Elliott Sadler, Dale Earnhardt Jr. asked his former racer “why NASCAR doesn’t want anybody to know about” the famous wreck.
Sadler in response shot down all the conspiracy theories that NASCSAR is hiding something. He asserted that the sanctioning body didn’t have any good pictures or footages of the incident as the camara wasn’t positioned in way to capture the incident. This was because he went too far off the track before making contact.
All right, so with the Pocono wreck, there is nothing that NASCAR is hiding. The reason there's not a good picture of the wreck, where I hit at, is too far off the track, like there's no camera angle for it.Elliott Sadler said via Dale Jr. Download.
Elliott Sadler admits the incident hurt more than anticipated
Once he was sent to the barriers following the contact with his teammate, Sadler braced for impact and was expecting it to be a normal wreck. But t o his surprise it did hurt more than he expected, but fortunately he didn’t break any bones due to the impact.
It's not gonna hurt. I'm just kind of bracing up a little bit. All of a sudden, I mean it when it hits it hurt. I'm like, I was not expecting that. I had no idea the fence made a V with the earth behind it, keeping it where it wouldn't give any, right, you know, hurt ribs, nothing broke.Elliott Sadler said.
While Elliott Sadler has given a solid explanation for the wreck, it would be interesting to see if the cult-fan base asking for explanation would buy it. There is a possibility that they would brand it as fake assertion. It would be interesting to see how this revelation would be received by the fans.
