As the Spring Training inches closer, the talks about the next installment of MLB The Show series have increased. On Monday, Cincinnati Reds star Elly Da La Cruz announced that he will be headlining the next game – MLB The Show 25 as the cover athlete.

Usually the MLB The Show games drop during late March when the new season of MLB kicks off. However, like every other game, the cover athletes are revealed a few months ago.

Last year, Toronto Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was unveiled as the cover athlete of MLB The Show 24. This year it seems Elly De La Cruz will have the honor to headline the game as the top star.

The Reds shortstop announced this decision on Instagram. In the video, the youngster speaks in Spanish and reveals that he is on the cover of the game as per the captions which were translated in English.

What’s up my people. This is Elly De La Cruz from the Cincinnati Reds and I’m excited to be on the cover of ‘MLB The Show 25.’ You already know, I’m going to beat everyone.

However, there is one big catch. After De La Cruz’s video went viral, Gunnar Henderson of the Baltimore Orioles put out a video. The 2023 AL Rookie of the Year claimed that he was supposed to be on the cover of the game. He later urged the Reds star to call him.

A few moments later, Paul Skenes joined in on the act. The 2024 NL Rookie of the Year told the two stars that the cover was his.

It is likely that all of these three next-generation stars could be on the cover of the game. This could be a historic moment for the game series as so far, there has been no cover that has featured more than one star. Since the series began in 2006, there has always been only one cover athlete.

Fans on social media have been left buzzing with three stars Elly De La Cruz, Gunnar Henderson, and Paul Skenes all claiming to be the cover athlete of MLB The Show 25. Popular gymnast Olivia Dunne has now joined in on the fun and dropped a four-word reaction to her boyfriend Skenes claiming to be the cover star.

Dunne would take to the comment section of Skenes’ Instagram. There she would drop a four-word message on the situation.

This is obviously not the first time where Olivia Dunne has hyped up Paul Skenes. She has attended several games of her boyfriend in his rookie season with the Pittsburgh Pirates.
