Shannon Sharpe usually sets the sporting world on fire with his words. Today, it was his actions, that too on the bed, that made his name circle everyone’s social media. In what could have been a career-threatening situation, the NFL Hall of Famer and ESPN analyst came forward to talk about his viral moment.

Sharpe’s intimate moments with a woman were caught live on IG Live accidentally. He joined his co-host Chad Johnson on their podcast Nightcap a few hours after the incident.

I'm embarrassed for a number of reasons. People count on Shannon to be professional at all times, even when I'm behind closed doors. I'm very disappointed in myself, not for the act. There are millions and billions of people of consenting age who participate in activities. But to have your most intimate details on the audio to be heard, I'm disappointed in myself. I've never been on IG live.
After Johnson’s opening words, Sharpe said.

Shannon Sharpe made it clear that it was an accident as he did not know how Instagram Live works. It was only when people rang on his 2nd phone that he understood the problem.

He mentioned that he was upset the moment one of his marketing staff informed him that more than 6500 people heard his entire ‘act’ live. The 3-time Super Bowl champion also received calls from other friends and known associates to inform him about the situation he was in.

He did however mention that he was not apologetic of the ‘act’. Just that it was a private moment that should not have gone live. It seems many of his fans were waiting to hear this as almost 310K people tuned in to this live edition of Nightcap.

Chad Johnson gives Shannon Sharpe some leeway

Co-host Chad Johnson was listening to Shannon Sharpe throughout his time on that live YouTube show. When his turn came to speak, Johnson said that Sharpe needs to evolve and learn more about technology.

You need to evolve with the times. You are not very good at technology. At times you've hit your phone and b**t dialed me by accident and don't even know you are doing it. I can understand where the mistake came in at. You're not very technically savvy.
Johnsaid said.

Sharpe acknowledged Chad Johnson’s point as he mentioned earlier about not knowing how to operate Instagram Live. This was an accident which ended up becoming the most viral moment of the day.

The former Denver Broncos star later mentioned that he would now leave his phone in the car if he was to engage in such activities. He even talked about switching back to a normal flip phone. People primarily use flip phones for calling, as they lack the advanced features of today’s smartphones. All things considered, those advanced features have embarrassed the former tight end by making him viral for the wrong reasons.

His employer ESPN is yet to respond to this situation. ESPN fired a former NBA champion and employee for intentionally showing his frisky side on Instagram Live. However, Sharpe coming clean might be able to stem that possibility.
