Emma Raducanu finally opened up about her withdrawal from the mixed doubles match alongside Andy Murray. The 21-year-old Brit was extremely excited to play alongside one of the greats of the game but had to withdraw from the category due to a stiffness in her wrist.
This doubles match was special, especially for all the fans out there because it was Andy Murray’s last tournament in Wimbledon. The 37-year-old lost in his men’s doubles match and gave a farewell speech, but the fans expected to see him again for mixed doubles, which was unfortunately not to be.

Many were upset with Raducanu’s decision and bashed her for pulling out at the last moment. The 21-year-old finally spoke about her withdrawal, where she revealed that it was also due to a scheduling error, which made her prioritize her singles over the mixed doubles match.
I have to prioritize myself, my singles, and my body. I think it was the right decision, I stand by the decision. Obviously, it was a tough decision though because it’s something that I’ve always wanted to do.Emma Raducanu said via Sky Sports
Her mixed doubles match with Murray was supposed to be the last match on court 1 and with some scheduling change, it was scheduled earlier than before. Raducanu, who also had to play the fourth round of the singles the next day, did not risk herself and withdrew from the tournament.

Emma Raducanu loses a physically tough match against Lulu Sun at the Wimbledon fourth-round
British superstar Emma Raducanu was phenomenal on grass. Having started weak on hard courts, the Brit gave herself more time on grass to try and have a great run in it. Rightly so, she was unstoppable at Wimbledon until the fourth round.

Raducanu played her long-time rival Lulu Sun for a place in the quarterfinal. She was not her best physically and kept on pointing at the back, which troubled her. Despite that, Raducanu fought back in the second set and forced a third set, where she was unable to keep up with her opponent and lost an important match 2-6, 7-5, 2-6.
I've been managing a stiff back since yesterday. I was feeling it during the match, I think especially on serve, it was affecting me a bit.Emma Raducanu said via Wimbledon press
The crowd continued to cheer on their homegirl and even tried to encourage her through the pain. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be for Raducanu, who was beaten by the qualifier.
